One of Diablo 4 Season 5’s newest features is the Infernal Horde mode. It acts as a rogue-lite, where players crush their way through increasingly more dangerous waves of demons and the undead. Between those and the Fell Council, anyone who tries this mode will more than have their hands full. However, you can’t just hop into it when you make your seasonal character. It will take a little bit of grinding to begin.

You will have to get through the new Eyes of the Enemy quest, which begins with Of Lambs and Wolves, and go further beyond that. If you aren’t sure where to start Diablo 4 Season 5’s Infernal Hordes mode, we’ve got you covered.

To begin Diablo 4 Season 5’s Infernal Hordes mode, you need to complete a few tasks first. You need to complete the unlockable story quests through The Mother’s Gift faction and also have access to World Tier III. That means you need to complete the Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad as well. Once you’ve done this, open your journal, and look through your White Quests (Priority Quests).

You should have the quest Eyes of the Enemy. Track it, and head to the quest marker. You’ll slay a bunch of demons, and then begin the next quest, Inside the Black Tomb. Journey through this dungeon, until it’s time to place Locran’s Talisman.

Activate the Talisman and use its explosive aura to keep enemies away from Locran if you need to. You may have to do it more than once. Interact with the jar and collect the ear. Once that’s done, you can proceed to the next step of unlocking the Infernal Hordes mode. This part of the quest is pretty straightforward - collect the pieces of Sankekeur. Just keep completing the objectives of this quest.

It will involve you getting the corpse of Sankekeur put back together, and will require a few challenging Elites to fight. Just keep enemies away from Locran when required, and complete Inside the Black Tomb.

The last step is to complete the quest To the Edge of the Abyss. This begins at the Caldeum Imperial Palace, so teleport there for the final step of Diablo 4’s Infernal Hordes to begin. Get to the Gates of Hell, and help Locran break the seal, and then enter Hell. You will have to defend Locran a few times before meeting the Fell Council. It’s dangerous, but bring your best, most powerful AOE class with you - like Barrage Rogue.

Once in the next section, grind your way to the Well of Hatred, and follow the steps until you’ve slain two of the Fell Council. After another cutscene, you’ll take the portal back to Sanctuary. With that, you’ve unlocked the Infernal Hordes mode in Diablo 4.
