Modules in The First Descendant are the main way for players to enhance their gameplay in new and exciting ways in Nexon's free-to-play sci-fi looter shooter. These equippable items are fairly common drops. Their perks range from straight-up damage boosts to the player's weapon, to entirely modifying how a character's Skills and Ultimates function.
This modularity allows for further freedom when it concerns creativity for character and weapon builds, enabling players to take down opponents as fast as possible. Here's everything players need to know about Modules in The First Descendant.
What are Modules in The First Descendant?
Modules are items players can obtain upon defeating enemies or from completing Missions in The First Descendant. While there are a variety of Modules, they all fall under one of two types: Descendant Modules and Weapon Modules.
The Descendant Modules enhance the player's character as well as their Skills and Ultimate ability. On the other hand, different Weapon Modules can be attached to different kinds of weapons like Assault Rifles, Scout Rifles, Beam Rifles, Shotguns, and more.
Weapon Modules can be equipped by clicking on the chip icon next to an equipped weapon in the Inventory while Descendant Modules have their own separate tab listed below the weapons. It should go without saying that higher rarity Modules are better. Players can also combine Modules to create a new one.
It should also be noted that each Module has a Capacity Cost for equipping and more powerful Modules have a higher cost. As such, players cannot just equip any Module they want, keeping in line with game balancing and progression.

How do you upgrade Modules in The First Descendant?
To upgrade Modules, players will require a material called Kuiper, and Gold, which is the main currency in The First Descendant. While the latter is a relatively common resource, Kuiper is obtained by dismantling Modules. Thankfully, players will find more Modules than they would know what to do with so they will likely have an excess of the chips at one point just waiting to be dismantled.
With the obtained Kuiper, players can visit the NPC called Module Master Silion and upgrade their Modules as they desire. There is a catch though: each Rank upgrade for the Module consecutively increases in Kuiper and Gold cost - and each chip can be upgraded 10 times up to a maximum of Rank 10. As such, we recommend only spending resources on the absolute highest-end Modules in The First Descendant.
The First Descendant is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
