How to use voice chat in Sea of Thieves

Using voice chat in Sea of Thieves can make the game more enjoyable for you and your teammates. Not only does it kill the periodic boredom with fun conversations with your pirate mates, but it also helps you communicate and coordinate better while at sea.

How to enable voice chat in Sea of Thieves

Before we hop into the game and tweak the in-game setting, we need to alter some things in your Windows Privacy section. Since the game is not a native Windows application, you might need to activate its access to your computer's microphone to use voice chat in Sea of Thieves.

So, follow these steps to check or allow access to your PC's microphone:

• Go to the Start menu
• Type Settings and press the Enter button
• Look for Privacy and then click on the Microphone option in the sidebar
• The "Let apps use my microphone" slider should be on by default. However, if it isn't, go ahead and toggle the slider
• Then, allow access to Sea of Thieves by toggling the slider next to its name

Once this is done, go into your game and navigate to the Settings menu. There, click on Audio Settings on the left side and scroll down till you see the Push to Talk option. You can choose to set it to Hold, Toggle, or Off.

While setting it to the Hold or Toggle option will let you use voice chat in Sea of Thieves while playing with your friends, the last option will disable it.

When using the voice chat on Hold, you will need to press down on the Push to Talk keybind whenever you speak. However, Toggle, on the other hand, lets you enable this feature with one click and allows you to talk until you press the keybind again to turn it off.
