Dune Awakening recently shared an update about its ongoing development process. In this community highlight, the developers at Funcom shared that 2024 has been quite fruitful as they were able to receive some valuable information from the game's closed beta tests.
In the community highlight, they also shared some stats that were extracted from their closed beta tests, including the number of kangaroo mice that have been killed by the players. This stat clearly baffled the developer, which they stated sarcastically in the community highlight:
"How could you?"
This article shares everything we know so far about the development of Dune Awakening.

According to the stats shared by the developer, the closed beta highlights are:
Deadly Arrakis:
- NPCs account for 58% of player deaths.
- Sandworms (27%) and dehydration (22%) round out the deadliest hazards.
- Impressively, 2% of players with 10+ hours of gameplay have avoided death entirely!
Mentor Preferences: During character creation, players choose mentors who influence abilities and dialogue:
- Bene Gesserit: 31%
- Swordmaster: 24%
- Trooper: 23%

Blood Harvest: Beta players have extracted 1.5 million liters of blood from enemies and creatures. According to the reports, close to a hundred muad’dib have been killed by the players.
The developer made sure to make the players feel as guilty as possible in the most sarcastic way:
"Close to a hundred muad'dibs had their blood extracted (the kangaroo mouse not the Duke Leto's son who doesn't exist in our game). How could you? "
At the end of the highlight, the developer shared that as Dune Awakening's potential release date edges closer, the team is working at full capacity to make sure the launch is as smooth as possible. They have also invited the players to sign up for the beta tests.
