Aion Classic is a new server released for the Korean MMORPG that lets you play the game in the form it was released back in 2009. Classic servers are nothing new in MMOs. Many popular MMO games like RuneScape and World of Warcraft already have classic servers that offer players a nostalgia trip.
Aion Classic features many maps, events, and visuals inspired by the original release. However, many veteran players have shared that it is still quite far from the original experience, as it has many modern implementations and optimizations. One such example is its business model. Yes, Aion Classic is free to play, but if you're looking to play the game to its fullest, you must get a subscription.
How Does Aion Classic's Payment System Work?
Like most MMO games, you can download Aion Classic for free. You can access the basic elements but there will be a bunch of restrictions. While the developers claim that these restrictions are not harsh and you can progress in the game using the free model, you will soon realize that this claim isn't entirely true.

However, anyone who has played the game will know that one hour is nothing in Aion. Progressing in the game is extremely tedious with only one hour of proper gameplay. To get full-time benefits and upgrade your account to the premium tier, you have to pay $9.99 every 30 days.
Once you upgrade to the premium version, your max level cap will increase to 58. In addition to the subscription, you can also choose to buy the battle pass. The battle pass resets every month, offering a selection of loot that you can collect by completing various tasks.
This loot can potentially give you an edge over other players. The in-game store also features multiple microtransactions, currencies, bonuses, and other benefits that you can buy with real money to get an upper hand.
