The nature of an MMO like Ashes of Creation being solo-friendly is interesting. The developer has certainly put content in the game that is for solo players or small groups, but does that mean the whole game is like that? In Sandbox MMOs/PvP MMOs, it’s safer to be a part of a group or a community.
That doesn’t mean you have to, but there are risks and things to keep in mind. Your growth could be slower, and you may not have as many people to defend you in dangerous PvP situations if you’re going at it alone.
Some of Ashes of Creation’s classes may not be solo-friendly either — we’ll just have to see how the game develops from here. After all, it only recently entered its Alpha 2 testing state. This could certainly change as time goes on, but I don’t think it’s solo-friendly at all.

Is it possible to play through all of Ashes of Creation content solo?
It really depends on how you define “solo” in Ashes of Creation. If you feel like solo gameplay means you can never group with other players ever, then no, you probably will not be able to play through all the game’s content solo. You could, in theory, complete instanced dungeons solo, but it will likely require a higher level of skill.
However, the developers have stated that instanced dungeons will cater to solo and group questlines. With that in mind, if you’re working on a quest as a solo player, there may be an option for you to go into a lower-difficulty version of that dungeon.
Ashes of Creation does have content for solo players, the developers have stated as much. While they did say they aren’t creating a solo game, they do want to make sure solo players do have content to complete.
It’s likely you can join PvP events as a solo player and still thrive, even as a solo player in Ashes of Creation. It again will probably require far more skill, if you aren’t ever grouping with players.
Unfortunately, you can’t do everything solo in Ashes of Creation. I do feel like there’s going to be more than enough, and it should be a fairly solo-friendly experience. The biggest attractions of the game are based around group PvP though, so that’s something to keep in mind. It’s very much a PvP game, and you should be aware of that before subscribing.
There are open-world bosses to kill, nodes to take resources from, and a wealth of content that frankly, requires a group. I don’t think you can do it all solo — but there will be plenty for a solo-minded player to enjoy.
Playing solo doesn’t mean you never socialize or group with other players. In my experience, as a mostly solo MMO player, it means the bulk of my time is spent working on content alone — but I’m willing and glad to team up to do content that requires it.
