As said before, Pax Dei is not free to play, and you will have to purchase one of the available editions to play the game. There are currently three editions of the game. You can either buy the standard Journeyman Founder’s Pack ($39.99) for the vanilla game or go for the Artisan Founder’s Pack ($59.99) or Master Founder’s Pack ($99.99), both of which come with exclusive content and an increased number of plots.

The developers haven't confirmed or announced any additional subscriptions that will be introduced for the game, but they are thinking about implementing a Token system similar to WoW (World of Warcraft).
