Throne and Liberty is going to make fans of certain consoles quite happy. While it won’t be available on the Switch, there will be access and crossplay for both PlayStation and Xbox users when the game launches later this year. Although it will not feature cross-progression, players will be able to play with one another, regardless of platform, upon the game’s launch. To make it even better, players can take part in an open beta on all three platforms starting on July 18, 2024.
If you’re curious about the game's launch date for the consoles, and whether you’ll need any form of extra subscription when playing Throne of Liberty on Xbox or PlayStation, we’ve got you covered.
Throne and Liberty will be available on consoles
Throne of Liberty will be available on consoles (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5) on September 17, 2024, alongside the PC release. If players are curious to see how this MMO plays on their console, they can try their luck during the open beta. Like the Throne of Liberty April Global Beta, you will also be able to take part on console - sadly however, PlayStation users will not be able to preload.
There’s good news for Throne and Liberty Xbox fans, though - you won’t need Game Pass to play online, according to the developers’ FAQ on the official website. All you will need is to have this free-to-play MMO installed, and you’ll be good to go. The same goes for PlayStation users - you won’t need PS+ in order to play online, but that’s standard for the Sony console.
In addition, there will be cross-play between all three platforms, regardless of what you want to play on, meaning you’ll be able to group and tackle Guild-based action with your friends. Unfortunately, there will be no cross-progression, so if you’re a Throne and Liberty PlayStation user, you’ll have to start over if you want to play on your PC.
Unlike some MMOs in the past, this one from NCSOFT and Amazon Games will be launching at the same time for PC as well as the consoles - Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Previous generation consoles will not have access, nor will the Nintendo Switch.
Throne and Liberty launches on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on September 17, 2024. Fans will be able to give their input on the game after the current test has ended. They will be able to voice their opinions on important issues, such as whether they think the game is pay-to-win or not.
