Is War Thunder crossplay? Cross-platform features explored

The popular combat strategy game War Thunder allows crossplay between PCs and consoles. It is one of the most comprehensive and detail-oriented military vehicles combat MMO and is free to play. It is available on PC, PlayStation 5, 6, Xbox One, and X|S. Players from different platforms can seamlessly face each other in battle.

The game was released as an open beta in 2012, with a worldwide release in the subsequent year. It was officially released in 2016. Over the years, War Thunder has received a steady flow of updates each year with the latest update 'Seek and Destroy,' being launched in June. It has a massive player base who can choose from an assortment of over 2000 highly detailed armored vehicles, aircraft, helicopters, and ships.

War Thunder allows cross-platform gameplay between users on PC (Windows. Mac, Linux), PlayStation, and Xbox in the same game session. The only crossplay that is not possible is with the mobile version of the game, which is separate from the PC/console.

Note that Xbox players have to enable the cross-platform gameplay option. Otherwise, you can only play with other Xbox players. You will also not be able to access game modes except Air and Ground Arcade battles.

The game is identical for both PC and consoles. But they do have a couple of differences. For one, PC players can buy the XM-1 (GM) as a high-tier premium American tank. But console players get a slightly different tank, that is the XM-1 (Chrysler).

Does War Thunder have cross-save?

War Thunder has cross-save for console players but not for PC players. Console players can transfer their accounts to PC, but PC players cannot transfer their accounts to consoles. But there are some limitations for console players in this regard too.

If you transfer your PlayStation or Xbox account to a PC, two separate accounts get created. One account is the original console account, while the new one being made for PC. Progress gets saved till the moment of unlinking, and after that, the two accounts become separate.

Console players also cannot access the game's external auction house called 'Gaijin Market'. The marketplace is only available to PC players. Console players only have access to Gaijin Store.
