Diablo 4’s developers have officially fixed the Forgotten Souls issue. It’s become a joke in the D4 community recently that Forgotten Souls have become the new “Angelbreath,” in that now they’re remarkably hard to farm. That was Angelbreath for quite a long time, but that’s been made much easier since the Vessel of Hatred expansion, and Season 6’s launch.
This hotfix for Forgotten Souls dropped on October 11, 2024, just a few days after the official launch of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. If you want to know where you can easily grab this useful resource, read on.
Diablo 4 Hotfix makes Forgotten Souls far less forgotten
The October 11, 2024, Diablo 4 Hotfix will increase the number of Forgotten Souls players can get across the game. This was done for all four levels of Torment difficulty in the game. Each difficulty level increase will grant you more Forgotten Souls per drop, rewarding players for grinding through higher levels of Torment (I - IV).
- Torment I: Three Forgotten Souls (prev. 1)
- Torment II: Five Forgotten Souls (prev. 1, 2)
- Torment III: Seven Forgotten Souls (prev. 2)
- Torment IV: 10 Forgotten Souls (prev. 3)
In addition, Forgotten Souls are guaranteed drops off of certain D4 Vessel of Hatred content: Dungeon Bosses, Whisper Caches, Lair Bosses in Torment Tiers are all guaranteed to drop this useful crafting material.
In addition, Dark Citadel end wing bosses have an increased number of Forgotten Souls drops. One final bonus for this hotfix, the Kurast Undercity final rewards had Crafting Materials added to them, which includes Forgotten Souls.
What are Forgotten Souls used for in Diablo 4?
As you get into the endgame of Diablo 4, Forgotten Souls will be incredibly important. You use these at both the Blacksmith and the Occultist to upgrade your Ancestral items.
Once you start getting incredible gear, you’ll want to use the Forgotten Souls on it as a part of the improvement process. However, thanks to that recent hotfix, you won’t have to be quite as stingy with them, as long as you make the effort to grind for them throughout the Torment difficulty levels.
