Sea of Thieves Season 14 kicked off recently, introducing new features and items that add another reason for playing this game in 2024. With numerous new tools like the Grappling Hook and the Blowpipe that make traversal and combat more exciting and accessible, this new season will spice up this game, unlike any previous update this game had so far.
This article will explain what new major changes and updates Sea of Thieves Season 14 has in store for players.
Five major highlights of Sea of Thieves Season 14
1) Getting around with a Grapple Gun
The Grappling gun is the latest addition that Sea of Thieves season 14 makes to the pirate’s loadout. This gun will have five reloadable shots that allow you to grapple onto environments and structures before propelling to them as Batman does. Therefore, you can now close the gap between enemies by positioning yourself closer, or latching onto enemy ships and getting aboard them quickly.
Moreover, you can also use this gun to pull crates towards yourself, allowing you to steal them from a distance from enemy ships. You can also use it to pull in enemies and friends so that you can rescue them or deal a killing blow. This makes the Grapple Gun useful in both traversal and combat.
2) Striking in silence with a Blowpipe
The Grappling Gun isn’t the only new addition to your arsenal in Sea of Thieves Season 14. We now get the new Blowpipe, a fresh weapon for pirates who prefer killing in silence.
Unlike using a gun, enemies will never hear the gunshot, helping you kill them and plunder their ships in silence. This makes the Blowpipe one of the best weapons in Sea of Thieves.
You can shoot three different types from the Blowpipe, each having unique effects. They are:
- Black Powder Dart: These darts contain gunpowder with a fuse in them, which explode after a short timer after being fired. This lets you light up enemies on fire, damaging them over time. However, they can dowse their fire by jumping in water, using a bucket over their heads, or by vomiting on others. You can also fire winds from your Horn of Fair Winds to extinguish the arrow before it explodes.
- Poison Dart: As the name suggests, this dart poisons your enemies. However, you can negate the poison by eating food and with the help of your crewmates. This makes it an effective weapon like the Throwing Knives.
- Lure Dart: If you like tricking your enemies to their doom, the Lure Dart will be your new favorite. Enemies can mistake them for treasure while attracting skeletons, phantoms, ocean crawlers, sharks, and sirens towards it. Therefore, you can use it to lure enemies into a trap or distract other creatures.
3) Becoming the master of disguises
Sea of Thieves Season 14 has many new tools that aid a more stealthier approach to combat apart from the Blowpipe. You can now equip disguises to make them undetectable to other pirates.
For example, you can now disguise yourself as a barrel or a treasure chest to sneak aboard enemy ships. However, enemies can detect you if they try to interact with your disguise. You unlock many of them by completing certain Commendations.
4) Crouching pirate hidden pirate
Sea of Thieves Season 14 adds one of the biggest movement updates ever - the ability to crouch. This lets you hide in the shadows, becoming undetectable to enemies as long as you stay out of their sight. However, you will move slowly and be unable to draw your weapon while crouching.
5) Merfolk’s Merfruit
The Merfruit is the latest fruit added in the game, that magically and mysteriously appears in random barrels. Eating this fruit lets you restore health like any other fruit.
However, cooking it perfectly lets you dismiss any Merfolk that appears to transport you back to your ship if you stray too far. This lets you sneak aboard enemy ships and stow away for hours on end without anyone noticing.
That’s it regarding all the latest additions players will see with Sea of Thieves Season 14. All these new tools and the crouch mechanic aim to steer players to adopt a more stealthy approach to combat while making traversal smoother and faster. Therefore, expect looting and shooting to become more strategic than before.
