Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo 4 Season 2 woes continue, as the developer has been forced to disable item trading after a new duplication glitch was spotted in the game. Once it was reported, the company took to its official forums and, keeping in line with its End User License Agreement, threatened to ban players who used these exploits.
This is the second time Blizzard has had to suspend item trading since launch, raising questions about the amount of testing that goes into the title prior to its release.
Blizzard threatens to ban players after new trading exploit surfaces in Diablo 4 Season 2
It is not surprising to see Blizzard dish out harsh punishments this time around. The new exploit allows players to duplicate all the items required to summon Uber Duriel. Once summoned, players can go on to defeat him and farm Uber Uniques without actually having to go through the tedious process of acquiring them.
Although everyone has a fair chance at acquiring these Uber Uniques in Diablo 4 Season 2 after Blizzard made massive changes to the game, using an exploit to farm these items is unfair. As of now, no bans have been reported, but should players use the exploit after the warning on the forums, the developers won’t hesitate to swing the ban hammer.
Blizzard is yet to release a solution to the glitch, but a fix should be available soon. This situation does raise many questions about the quality checks that the developer has in place. Had there been proper testing, these issues would not have occurred.
While Blizzard has made good on its promise to make the game better in the new season, there are a few issues that it still has to figure out. It's barely been three weeks since the new season went live, and bugs have started to appear already. One can only wonder what will happen as the season progresses.
However, the developer has been taking community feedback into account. This was reflected in the changes that it introduced to mounts, classes, and the Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 Season 2. So, one can expect that such bugs and exploits won't crop up in the near future.
It will be interesting to see how Blizzard deals with the current exploit and what further updates they bring to the game in the upcoming patches.
