Best fishing locations in New World Aeternum

The world of New World Aeternum offers a variety of fishing locations, and the type of water you fish in determines the species you can catch. If you're targeting saltwater fish, head to the ocean or swamps. These areas are rich with species that thrive in saltwater environments.

For freshwater fish, rivers, lakes, and ponds are your best bet. Freshwater bodies contain a different selection of fish. You can experiment with different water bodies and baits to catch new fish. Keep an eye on the areas near the lakes and ponds as they have a high chance of having some bushes that can give you some bait.

Once you’ve found a suitable fishing spot, switch to Fishing Mode by pressing F3 (PC) or holding Up on the D-pad (consoles). After selecting your bait, if you’re using any, cast your line by pressing the Left Mouse Button (PC) or RT/R2 (console).

Once the fish bites, it’s time to reel it in. The reeling mechanic is quite straightforward. Press the Left Mouse Button (PC) or RT/R2 (console) to start reeling. As you do so, a white circle will appear around the fishing icon, gradually filling up.

Be cautious when the circle turns orange or red—this indicates tension on the line, and continuing to reel could cause the fish to escape or the line to break. Release the button when the meter turns red or orange, then resume reeling when it’s safe. Repeat this process until you successfully catch the fish.
