There is less than a month remaining for Guild Wars 2's newest expansion to hit the official servers. Janthir Wilds will be the new entry to the story of the Pact Commander in the post-End of Dragons era, as they managed to solve the problem that was brimming between Tyria and the Kryptis. Almost a year later, new locations, stories, and multiple updates await.
One such update comes in the form of pinnacle endgame content of Guild Wars 2, called Raid. It has been five years since the last Raid was released in the game, which many know as Wing 7. Additionally, there will also be a new Convergence activity for 50-player lobbies, all acting as a part of the main story.
Note that both the upcoming Raid and Convergence are scheduled for a major update in November 2024 and will not be arriving with the expansion launch on August 20, 2024.
All new details on new Raid and Convergence for Guild Wars 2 Janthir Wilds
The upcoming Raid in Janthir Wilds is going to be Guild Wars 2's first Raid in five years. The last Raid that was released in the game was called 'The Key of Ahdashim,' primarily known as T7 to the majority, and was tied to the Path of Fire expansion. Hence, having a new pinnacle endgame is exciting news for the community.
However, players will need to wait it out a little bit more, as the new endgame activities are not arriving until November 2024. ArenaNet has confirmed that the new 10-player Raid alongside the 50-player Convergence will be integrated with the main storyline. There will be a slight difference in the narrative, as the Raid will not feature the regular NPCs in the story.
Instead, the Raid enemies will be significantly more formidable. Based on ArenaNet's words, the story experience of those taking the Raid route is supposed to feel more "Heroic." Sometime after the Raid's launch, the community will also get a Challenge mode. Furthermore, a Legendary mode is planned for release with a purple title.
It should be noted that any player refusing to enter Raid lobbies can still experience that part of the story at their own pace in the open world.
As for the Convergence, ArenaNet has confirmed that it is tuning the difficulty of the bosses to make them more challenging. Any Essence rewards tied to the Janthir Wilds Convergence can be used for Legendary crafting from Secrets of the Obscure.
