Bungie is increasing the cap for Destiny 2 Strange Coins and Ciphers

Strange Coins and Ciphers often come in handy for Destiny 2 players, as they are two primary currencies for endgame gear. The former's value increased ever since the implementation of Xur's shop change in The Final Shape. Meanwhile, the latter has always been a way to obtain any specific endgame loot, be it Adept Nightfall or a Trials weapon.

With the first official blog post of the year, Bungie confirmed an increase of Strange Coin and Cipher caps for every player, allowing them to invest in more numbers than before. The prices of every item will remain the same.

Destiny 2 Strange Coin and Cipher cap to be increased

The Strange Coin and Cipher cap increase has been scheduled for the Episode Heresy launch on February 4, 2024. Here are the changes listed by Bungie in its TWID blog post:

• Strange Coins cap increased from 99 to 199
• Osirian Ciphers and Nightfall Ciphers cap increased from 10 to 30

Strange Coin is the primary currency required to purchase anything from Xur, the weekly vendor. Players will need this currency for Exotic armor pieces, weapons, or even Legendary gear pieces. Hence, with the increased cap being 199, everyone can stock up for more loot from Xur on weekends.

Similarly, the Nightfall and Osirian Ciphers will increase from 10 to 30. This will allow players to obtain more Adept weapons from both Nightfall and Trials of Osiris.

Bungie has also teased a few more changes coming to Trials of Osiris in Episode Heresy, more of which will be revealed later.
