Destiny 2 Episode Revenant Dungeon will have active contest modifier

Destiny 2 Episode Revenant is bringing in a brand new Dungeon after ten months. Players have been farming for pinnacle gear pieces in a single Dungeon all this time, which can be tiresome. With the second episode, everyone will have new content regarding the endgame. However, Bungie seems to be applying a twist, which will also be the first in the game's history.

The upcoming new Dungeon in Episode Revenant will have a contest modifier, similar to Raids. This modifier is meant mostly for Day 1 Raid races, allowing everyone to be on the same playing field.

However, having a similar modifier for Dungeon could mean several things, and many wonder if the company will hold a World's First race for Dungeons as well. On the other hand, there aren't any Raid scheduled until next year's expansion. Hence, Bungie might also be trying to make endgame activities entertaining.

Contest modifier confirmed for upcoming Destiny 2 Dungeon

Destiny 2 Episode Revenant Dungeon has been confirmed for October 11, 2024, three days after the launch of the Episode. While not much is known officially, players can expect the activity to tie in directly with the story of Revenant. The Episode itself will be based on Eliksni and Scorn, concluding several character arcs and tying up loose ends from previous expansions.

Additionally, the Icebreaker Solar Exotic Sniper Rifle from Destiny 1 will be the Dungeon's featured Exotic.

Here's what Bungie stated regarding the upcoming Dungeon:

"In just little under a month, on October 8, Episode: Revenant will launch. We have tons of new details to share with you before that time, but today, we wanted to focus on just one bit: the new dungeon. Launching on Friday, October 11 at 10 am PT the new dungeon will feature a Contest Mode for the first time ever."

Aside from the release date, the announcement of contest mode in a Dungeon certainly came as a surprise to everyone. This will also be the first time in the game's history that a Dungeon will get contest modifiers. However, the active duration of this modifier is unknown.

Destiny 2 contest modifiers are known to significantly increase an activity's difficulty. Each enemy inflicts boosted damage, while also having increased health.
