Destiny 2 leaks hint at completely new annual model in the future

New leaks claim that Destiny 2 will rework their annual model for releasing content such as DLCs and seasons. While Bungie announced the codename of its next project, which was revealed to be 'Frontier', not many got the roadmap for the next year and beyond. However, several leaks are surfacing on the internet, revealing some of the upcoming changes in the annual model of Destiny 2.

These changes have been made by Liz, one of the most renowned dataminers in the community. Readers can expect the changes to the model to be quite significant, as Bungie won't be continuing with their regular expansion release per year, alongside seasonal or episodic entries.

New DLC and seasonal cycle leaked for Destiny 2

The year of The Final Shape is set to have three Episodes, all scheduled to be released by the end of April 2025. Not much is known beyond that, at least in official means, as Bungie only revealed a codename for Destiny 2's future. Recently, Destiny Leaks' X account came forward to shed some light on the upcoming roadmap of the game.

Here's what the leaks state regarding the new annual model:

"2 DLCs and 2 Seasons per year. Will release at (roughly) the same time. Seasons will be entirely free aside from Pass Rewards. 6 months long each."

Here, the DLCs will act more like content packs yearly, similar to Curse of Osiris or Into the Light. Additional leaks regarding DLCs claim the following:

Will contain new destinations, raids, and campaigns, but on a much smaller scale
The size of the content seems to be similar to Shadowkeep, maybe, although the format might be different
The goal is to create more replayable activities like The Coil from Season of the Wish

As for the seasons, players will also see a complete overhaul of the seasonal model, including story missions, activities, rewards, and more.
