Elon Musk, a noted fan of ARPGs like Diablo 4, has recently taken to Path of Exile 2. The billionaire has been a long-time fan of video games and is never shy about sharing his opinions with the internet at large. It’s also not a secret that PoE 2 has been a mega hit online, with hundreds of thousands of players on Steam at all hours of the day to grind through its Early Access content.
Now that the game is in Early Access and everyone can play it, provided they purchase one of the Supporter Packs, opinions are everywhere. When it comes to the richest man on Earth, it turns out that he’s a huge fan of Path of Exile 2 so far:
“Have to say that @PathofExile is a hall-of-famer.”
Elon Musk cannot stop praising Path of Exile 2
Path of Exile 2 has only been live for a few days at this point, and Elon Musk has taken to his website, X, to talk about just how great the game is. The CEO of Tesla called the game a “hall-of-famer”, and when asked about what he’s playing, he revealed it’s a Monk named “MonkEBizznizz”. Compared to previous characters like “IWillNeverDie” in Diablo 4, this name shows a bit more creativity.
Calling the game a “hall-of-famer” is certainly not far from the mark, either. Over a million users have already redeemed Path of Exile 2 keys, and its PC version’s Steam chart is also equally impressive. The game currently has an all-time peak of 578,562 and a 24-hour peak of 446K players, with over 200K playing as of writing. That is a significant number of Exiles diving into the game.
Monk is also one of the harder classes to play from the start of the game. They lack decent defenses and rely heavily on your ability to maneuver and dodge around the map to stay alive, weaving in and out of combat as necessary. Going Monk was certainly an interesting choice, but it sounds like he’s holding his own so far.
Additionally, Elon Musk has called Path of Exile 2 the “love child of Elden Ring and Diablo”. This is likely in reference to Diablo and PoE 2 sharing the ARPG genre, but Grinding Gear Games’ latest release is significantly harder than its prequel and even Diablo 4.
Elon Musk’s posts about Path of Exile 2 have also led to many X users asking about the game, not being familiar with it. His social interactions could in fact lead to many more purchases of keys for the hit Action RPG.
In turn, much of the discussion around the game on X is surrounding the success of the game, and whether or not it’s a “Diablo-killer”, but Elon Musk, at this time, has yet to comment on that. Regardless, it’s clear about one thing — the richest man alive is really digging PoE 2.
