Palworld Sakurajima is live, and players are gradually diving back to try out the game's first major content update. The Summer 2024 update adds a new island, several Pals, various skills, weapons, and plenty more. The developers have ensured there's enough fresh content for players to sink hours in, and the current concurrent player count on Steam speaks to it.
Can Palworld reach its all-time peak concurrent player count on Steam with the latest update? That remains to be seen.

Palworld players diving back with the launch of Sakurajima
With the Sakurajima update dropping around 12 hours ago today (June 27, 2024), the current concurrent player count on Steam is 100,457 (at the time of writing). The all-time peak for the same stat is 2,101,867, which the game achieved about five months ago.
While the number is likely to go up with the weekend arriving in a couple of days, reaching the 2m peak may just turn out to be a mountain to climb. But to the developer's credit, the Sakurajima update is filled to the brim with new stuff to do. Twenty-four new Pals are added to the game, with some being variants of beasts already existing earlier.
The new weapons list is as follows:
- Laser Rifle
- Flamethrower
- Gatling Gun
- Grenade launcher
- Guided Missile Launcher
- Multi-Guided Missile Launcher
- Meteor Launcher
