Fntastic, the developers of The Day Before, made a surprising return in September 2024 with their new title, Escape Factory. However, on October 23, 2024 — only a couple of months after the Kickstarter for The Escape Factory began — they released an official statement saying that they were "postponing" the crowdfunding for that project. They mentioned that they were moving to a new Prop-Hunt game that is allegedly named ITEMS. According to the statement, a demo for the same would be shared once it reaches a certain stage in the development process.

Fntastic has a very bad reputation in the industry, and many in the gaming community have abeled the company as "untrustworthy." This was due to their historical failure with The Day Before. When the crowdfunding for The Day Before began, it was promised to be a one-of-a-kind, zombie-killing MMO game that would set a new bar in the industry.

However, the reality was extremely disappointing. The Day Before was nothing like what was promised. This led to a massive outcry that forced Fntastic to shut down their company. Nevertheless, history seems to be repeating itself, as not only did the developers come back with a new Kickstarter, but they also canceled it within months.

When Fntastic returned in September, they shared that they were taking full responsibility for The Day Before controversy, and with Escape Factory, they were looking forward to regaining the lost trust. However, the moment they made the announcement, they were welcomed with a very negative reception.

This was reflected in their new Kickstarter for The Escape Factory. According to the developer, it was unable to reach the goal of SGD 20,000, forcing them to pull the plug on the title — at least temporarily. In a statement made on their official Twitter handle, the developers shared that they were "postponing" Escape Factory to work on a new game.

Fntastic shared that they were getting a lot of requests for a Prop-Hunt game. Considering the suggestions and requests from the community, the devs have decided to work on the game and are likely to initiate another crowdfunding campaign for it after they prepare a playable "demo." However, based on the replies to the official announcement, the probability of this new title also failing appears to be quite high.

In Fntastic's statement, they shared that until they gather the resources to make this Prop-Hunt game a reality, they will be releasing new mobile games. The profits from these will go on to the fund ITEMS project.
