The First Descendant Season 1 'Invasion' Trailer unveils first look for new character Hailey, Ult Freyna, new bosses, and more

The First Descendant Season 1 is going to be released on August 29, 2024, and a surprise trailer has revealed some of its contents. As the pre-season content drought has begun to catch up, fans are already excited for what's to come. Codenamed 'Invasion,' the teaser seems to answer some questions regarding Hailey, the second ice-based character coming to the game.

In this rundown of the trailer, we will go over everything we have learned about The First Descendant Season 1: Invasion so far.

The First Descendant's upcoming character Hailey will unleash her 'cold fury' through a sizeable signature weapon

Earlier this week, the developers dropped patch 1.0.7 of The First Descendant, and gave players a glimpse of the upcoming character to sweeten the pot. The first-ever conceptual unveiling of Hailey outright declares her as the second Chill-based Descendant, "armed with cold fury" and "ready to strike."

The closing frames of the trailer drop the curtain on her "cold fury," which seems to be a giant railgun with a scope attached. Given how this is part of her character design, this upcoming Descendant will likely be the fourth one to wield her own signature weapon as a basic ability, akin to Gley's Massacre or Luna's synth-gun.

Hailey's winter gear, the railgun, and a rather bluntly advertised Chill element are all that's known about her at this point. However, there's much more to chew on with what the Season 1 teaser hints at.

So far, Bunny's personal quest is the only narrative character-related activity we have in Pre-Season. The upcoming Season 1 will latch on to that, and add cinematic story content to Freyna. The quest is also a segue to Ult Freyna, the upcoming Ultimate Descendant to be packaged with this content buffet. More interestingly, the trailer seemed to directly tease the rather grim depiction of Freyna's Transformation into Ult Freyna.

The new season might pick up The First Descendant's story where it left off

The opening pitch of The First Descendant's Season 1 teaser are the 'New Threats,' starting with the menacing figure of Karel's hooded chaperone. It appears he will step out of Karel's shadow, ditch the advisor-sidekick act, and embark on his own schemes.

The trailer also goes over what's likely to be the headliner lategame activity, 'Invasions'. At the very least, we're getting a more complex mission type with color-coded puzzles (our advanced condolences for those who will have to rely on day-one public matchmaking).
