Combat Deviants in Once Human are your partners in saving the game's dystopian world from Rosetta, cultists, and hostile otherworldly beings. Similar to Pals in Palworld, they can be summoned to fight alongside you in battle. However, unlike Pals, they can only remain on the battlefield for a limited period before returning to your Cradle to recharge their powers.
These Deviants have unique special abilities that are integral to your build. Therefore, it's better to use ones that complement your playstyle. That said, some Combat Deviants in Once Human are extremely versatile and perform well in various scenarios, and this tier list is here to help you find the best ones.

Combat Deviants tier list for Once Human: All fighting pets ranked
In this tier list, we have categorized all Once Human Combat Deviants into five tiers, with S including the best ones and D the worst:
S-Tier
These are the S-tier Combat Deviants in Once Human:
- Lonewolf's Whisper: Lonewolf's Whisper is the best offensive Combat Deviant in Once Human. While there are better options for certain builds, this Deviant is not only Best-in-Slot (BiS) for meta builds like Shrapnel but is also incredibly versatile. They perform well with any type of playstyle despite not being tailored to the specific niche.
- Festering Gel: Festering Gel is the best defensive Combat Deviant in Once Human, as it helps you recover HP and Sanity while blocking incoming attacks. It's very useful for tackling the endgame bosses in Pro mode—like Forsaken Giant and Mother of Life—especially if you are playing solo.
- Polar Jelly (only available in PvE servers): Polar Jelly is BiS for the Frost Vortex build in Once Human, which ranks among the S-tier builds in the game. Although it’s not as versatile as Lonewolf's Whisper and only caters to a niche, being the BiS for Frost Vortex earns it a spot in the S-tier.
- Dr. Teddy (only available in PvP servers): Dr. Teddy is one of the best Combat Deviants for PvP in Once Human. It can heal and revive a target, including teammates, allowing for extended sustenance during prolonged battles. It can help you clutch a losing battle.

A-Tier
The following are the A-tier Combat Deviants in Once Human:
- Mini Feaster: Mini Feaster is tailored for the Bounce build in Once Human, which isn't as strong as other meta builds. However, this Combat Deviant is extremely versatile and works well with most builds, albeit not as well as Lonewolf's Whisper.
- Pyro Dino: Pyro Dino is the BiS Combat Deviant for the Burn build in Once Human. While Burn builds are powerful and capable of completing all content in the game solo, they are a tier below the meta builds—which is why this creature is in the A-tier.
B-Tier
Here are the B-tier Combat Deviants in Once Human:
- Voodoo Doll: This is a good defensive Combat Deviant in Once Human that shares or reflects a portion of incoming damage towards itself or the enemy. However, Festering Gel is a strictly better option, making this Deviant less useful.
- Mr. Wish: Mr. Wish is the rarest Combat Deviant in Once Human that can mark targets with the Bull's Eye debuff, significantly increasing your damage output. However, since the Recursive Crossbow, DE.50 - Wildfire, and AWS.338 Bingo also serve the same purpose, dedicating your Cradle slot to this Deviant is a suboptimal idea.
- Butterfly's Emissary: This is the first Deviant you will acquire in Once Human that increases your Weakspot DMG against a target. However, not every boss in the game has a weakspot. So, it's just better to use more versatile Deviants or those that perform best for your build.
C-Tier
The following Once Human Combat Deviants belong to the C-tier:
- Mini Wonder: Mini Wonder absorbs incoming bullets within a certain radius and refills ammo in your magazine. While this ability is useful in theory, there are other ways to achieve the no-reload playstyle, such as using gold mods in Once Human. Moreover, most PvE enemies are Deviants that don’t shoot bullets, making Mini Wonder's utility quite limited.
- By-the-Wind (only available in PvE servers): By-the-Wind is a niche Combat Devian that adds verticality to battles by enabling you to float at a certain height. This ability is mostly pointless in combat and is only useful for navigating hard-to-reach places while exploring the map.

D-Tier
These Combat Deviants belong to the D-tier in Once Human:
- Zeno-Purifier: This melee-oriented Combat Deviant allows you to teleport to your target. Unfortunately, melee builds aren’t viable in the endgame, making this Deviant less useful.
- Shattered Maiden: This Deviant only works on non-boss enemies, which are not difficult to deal with, even in Pro mode. So, it’s not worth dedicating your Cradle to this Deviant.
- Enchanted Void (only available in PvE servers): Similar to the Zeno-Purifier, this is a melee-oriented Combat Deviant that increases your Melee DMG significantly. However, as melee is a niche and underpowered playstyle, it isn't worthwhile.
- Grumpy Bulb: Grumpy Bulb deals AoE Status DMG and causes enemies to attack each other. While it's not a bad Combat Deviant, there are far better options.
