The Gatling Cannon is one of the most powerful defensive options available in Once Human. This live-service game lets players participate in either PvE or PvP. While in the former, you don't have to think about defenses, things get quite dangerous in the latter as all players are on their own and can fight each other.
Building defenses for your base in PvP is a must, which makes having the Gatling Cannon all the more important. This guide shows how you can unlock and use the Gatling Cannon in Once Human.
Guide for Unlocking the Gatling Cannon in Once Human
To unlock the Gatling Cannon, first unlock its schematics on the Memetic Tree. The plans for the Gatling Cannon are under the Building tab in the Memetic menu. Scroll all the way down to the fourth phase of the tree and unlock the Close Defense Turret I node. The fourth phase of the tree is called Transcendence, and it is unlocked when you reach the Tame the Staroid phase in the current season.

Unlocking the Close Defense Turret I node requires seven Ciphers and 2,000 Energy Links. Once you unlock it, you'll be able to build it in your base. Keep in mind that the Gatling Cannon is not automated. This means whenever you're under attack, someone will have to stand behind it and operate it.
Later in the game, you can unlock a stronger version of the Gatling Cannon. To do this, go to the fifth phase of the Building tab in the Memetic tree, titled Enlightenment. This phase also unlocks when you reach the Tame the Staroid phase in the current season. In this phase, unlock the Closed Defense Turret II node. It will cost 10 Ciphers and 5,000 Energy Links to unlock it.

You can improve the Gatling Cannon in your base by getting specific specializations as you level up your character's primary level. If you choose the Gatling Cannon: Power Blast upgrade, all Gatling Guns you build will improve and recover all their durability when your base exits combat.
