Once Human has a Gacha system in the form of the Wish Machine. This slot machine is unlocked pretty early in the game, and players can use in-game currencies to roll for a random chance at getting a reward from its prize pool. You can select 'packs' to opt for a specific prize pool, which is where the 'Gacha' part comes in.
In this Once Human guide, we will go over the basics of the Wish Machine - how to unlock and use it, and what you can expect to get out of it.
How to unlock the Wish Machine in Once Human?
To unlock the Wish Machine, progress through the main storyline till you eventually reach the Greywater Camp in the Iron River area. The quest objective will lead you directly to the Wish Machine, and a cutscene will play once you move into the base.
Once you've interacted with it, you'll gain the option to bring back the machine to your base or craft it. Afterwards, you can interact and play the whack-a-mole minigame with it, and even draw some pretty good blueprints if you get lucky.

How to use the Wish Machine in Once Human?
Once you have your own Wish Machine in Once Human, follow these steps to start drawing from it.
1) Gather Starchrom:
- Complete Tasks, Events, and Log-In activities
- Open your Task Journal (press J) to claim rewards
- Check the "Events" tab in the Esc menu for more rewards
- Click on "Current Season" in the top right menu to claim additional rewards
2) Access the Wish Machine
3) Choose your draw option:
- Single draw: 500 Starchrom
- 10 draws: 5,000 Starchrom
4) Start the drawing process
5) Play the llama-whacking mini-game:
- Hit a llama with the mallet
- Note: You can't miss, and your choice doesn't affect the prize
- Optional: Toggle "Skip Cutscene" to bypass this step
6) Receive your prize:
- Get a Blueprint, Cosmetic, or gear piece from the current pool
- The item you received is removed from future draws
- Alternatively, you can get fragments that will eventually let you unlock a full item
You can repeat the process as many times as you desire. Keep an eye out for new prize pools that will be added to this slot machine systematically in the future.
RNG components and drop rates are common in MMO games like Once Human, but what's interesting about the Wish Machine is its fragment system. Instead of a full blueprint, you can get a 'fragment' for a specific piece of gear. Once enough fragments are unlocked, you can turn them in to get the full item without relying on further RNG.
