Once Human received its biggest update yet, known as 'The Way of Winter,' on October 17. The update brought a whole new map along with it; the rough and icy region of northern Nalcott. New features, Deviations, and enemies were also added as a part of this update. The map itself is fairly large, and the landscape differs vastly from what you experienced in Season 1. However, northern Nalcott is smaller in overall area when compared to Nalcott in Season 1.
In this article, we will discuss whether the Once Human Way of Winter map is larger than the Season 1 map and talk about some things you can expect in the new map.

Once Human Way of Winter map is smaller than Nalcott from Season 1
Although there is no information provided that compares the sizes of the two maps, the Season 1 map is larger than the Way of Winter one. Even if that is the case, the latter covers quite a large area and is quite different from the Season 1 version.
The Nalcott from Season 1 was divided into six regions with their areas varying in size. Northern Nalcott, on the other hand, is divided into three large regions. When we compare the two maps, just the Blackheart, Chalk Peak, and Red Sands regions combined cover a larger area than the entire map of the Way of Winter. Add the three remaining regions, and you can see that Season 1 Nalcott is fairly larger.

Traveling around the Season 1 map was mostly easy, with the hostile enemies being the primary threat to you. However, getting around the new map can be challenging in some places because of the harsh terrain. Apart from enemies, you also have to be aware of the temperature mechanic in Once Human, as the environment itself becomes hostile.
When you start the new scenario, you are given the choice of choosing between two starting points on the map. If you are new to the game, you should choose Onyx Tundra. If you are a veteran and want to challenge yourself, Vena Fjord is the region for you to choose, as the starting difficulty is Level 10.
