Once Human, NetEase Games’ newest survival MMO, is on the way, and fans are asking about private servers. They serve a number of purposes, such as letting particular communities play together, setting up competitive events, or even preventing toxic players from playing. Private serves could also benefit larger streamers who want to stream with a few people without being harassed in-game.
There’s both good news and bad news, though, for this persistently online survival MMO. The bad news is that there won’t be any private servers yet. However, Derek Qiu, Starry Studio’s Head of Operations, went on record in an interview, saying Once Human could have private servers in the future. This article explores more on that.
Once Human won’t have a private server ‘yet’
(Clip begins at 22:15)
During the Once Human Christmas Livestream 2023, a wide range of topics came up, including private servers. Not all players want to play in a game that will constantly evolve with new seasonal content. Sometimes, these changes end up being controversial and unpopular with the community.
During this particular stream, Derek Qiu of Starry Studio was asked about the possibility of private servers by a fan of the game. This way, players will be able to manage their own groups of people when playing the game.
Derek Qiu had this to say in response:
“The answer is yes. After we’ve gone live, this will be one of our major priorities for us to tackle. So you guys maybe have your own PVP server or your own PVE server, your own server, etc. So it is possible. I will say nothing is impossible in Starry Studio, because we have a very strong dev team, so that’s swagging, it’s not bragging, it’s the truth.”
However, he didn't explain how private servers would work in Once Human with regard to seasonal content. Players will have to wait for an official announcement on the matter for this free-to-play MMO.
With the game launching soon, it’s unclear what the private server status will be for Once Human, but it appears the developers have made it a priority. It will be interesting to see if players have the freedom to decide how things like PVP multiplayer will work on their own servers.
Once an official announcement regarding private servers is made, we will update you accordingly, so stay tuned to Sportskeeda for more on Once Human.
