For surviving in the wilderness, you need to have a constant supply of Drinking Water, and you also need Acid to make items like Gunpowder, which, in turn, makes Bullets. The Water Pump in Once Human can be unlocked from the Memetics tree. It is a Tier 3 unlock in the Logistics category, and you will need five Ciphers, 700 Energy Links, and the prerequisite unlock of the Water Filters Memetic.

How to place Water Pump in Once Human
The best place to put a Water Pump in Once Human is a body of Water. You may need to move your Territory to a location next to a Water source to place the Pumps at a good spot. Once placed in the Water, the Pump will start collecting Dirty Water from the source.
Make sure that the Water Pump is placed higher than the Storage Tanks, as the flow of Water from the Pump to the Tank is gravitational. So, if you put the Pump lower than the Tank, you will not be able to collect any Dirty Water to purify.
How to connect Water Pump to storage in Once Human
In order to connect the Water Pump to storage in Once Human, you need to unlock and craft Water Tank from the Memetics tree. It is a Tier 2 unlock in Logistics and is called Water Storage.
As mentioned before, construct the Water Tank at a lower elevation than the Pump as the water flow is gravitational. Then, go to either the Tank or the Pump and get into the Build screen by pressing 'B.'
On doing that, you will see that an option appears on both the Tank and the Pump, saying 'Connect Pipe.' Select that option, and a pipe will appear attached to whichever of the two facilities you were standing beside. Then, take the pipe to the other facility and connect it.
If you placed the Water Tank and the Water Purifier correctly, you will see that the pipe shows the water flow going from the Pump to the Tank.
How to purify Water from Water Pump in Once Human
In order to purify Water from the Water Pump in Once human, you need to have the Pump connected to a Water Purifier. This can be a normal one, an Osmosis Water Purifier, or a Stardust Water Purifier.
You can either directly connect the Pump to the Purifier or connect the Pump to the Purifier via the Water Tank. Once the connection is made, the Dirty Water will start going into the Purifier, where it will then be purified into Pure Water and Impure Acid.
Keep in mind that both the Water Pumps and the Water Purifiers need electricity to function, so you should have sufficient power generation in your Territory.
