Coal locations in Palworld are plentiful but you can be lost on the vast expanses of Palpagos Island if you don't know where to look. Coal is a crucial resource as it is necessary to craft a lot of important gear and weapons like Assault Rifles, Pump-action Shotguns, Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor, and more.

Coal can be found in mounds like most of the other elemental resources in this game. It is important to differentiate this commodity from other resources that come in mounds, like Ore, Sulphur, Paldium Fragments, and more.

Coal comes as dark black solid mounds, so it is hard to miss if you come across one. They will usually be in groups of three or four nodes and will regenerate after you mine them entirely, provided you don't build any artificial structure on top of the generation point of the coal nodes.

Two locations are excellent for farming coal in this game:

-155, -91
-98, -122

You can farm coal from these locations by setting up a Palbox and building a base. The latter will be more convenient because of the terrain.

How to farm coal in Palworld

As mentioned above, coal is an important component in a wide array of recipes. So, one trip to the coal mounds will not yield enough to craft everything. As a result, it is advisable to set up a coal-farming base in the aforementioned locations.

Set up a basic base with some storage units and Pals with Mining Work Suitability. Pals like Astegon, Digtoise, Anubis, and Rushoar are great to use for this purpose. You can also lend a hand with your pickaxe if you don't have any tasks on your to-do list.
