With the arrival of the Sakurajima update, you can now lockpick treasure chests in Palworld. Previously you would have to find keys. Depending on the rarity of the chest in the game, you would either need a copper, silver, or gold key to access the contents of a chest.

In this article, we will walk you through everything you need to know to lockpick treasure chests in this game, including how to craft the lockpicking tool and the easiest way to use it in the game.

How to lockpick treasure chests in Palworld

Once you have crafted the Lockpicking Tool, find a Treasure Chest. Go near it and press V on the PC to start the lockpicking. You can press Y on your controller.

Use your mouse or joystick to maneuver the Tool and press the Turn the lock key. You will have to turn the tool till you find the right spot that will successfully lockpick treasure chests for you.

How to unlock the Lockpicking Tool in Palworld

The Lockpicking Tool is a brand-new Ancient Technology added to the game in the Sakurajima update. You can unlock the three variants of the Lockpicking Tool:

Lockpicking Tool v1: This can be unlocked with one Ancient Technology Point
Lockpicking Tool v2: This can be unlocked with two Ancient Technology Point
Lockpicking Tool v3: This can be unlocked with three Ancient Technology Point

You can get Ancient Technology Points by defeating Boss Pals in this game.

How to craft the Lockpicking Tool v1

There are three variants of the Lockpicking Tool. To craft the base variant of this newly added tool, you will need the following items:

10 Ingots
10 Paldium Fragments
5 Nails

How to craft the Lockpicking Tool v2

To craft the v2 variant of the Lockpicking tool, you will need the following crafting materials:

20 Ingots
20 Paldium Fragments
10 Nails

How to craft the Lockpicking Tool v3

This is the best Lockpicking Tool as of writing and can be used to lockpick treasure chests of the highest grade in this game. You will need the following crafting materials to make this Lockpicking tool:

30 Ingots
30 Paldium Fragments
20 Nails

Using the v1 Lockpicking Tool to lockpick high-grade treasure chests is possible. It might work, but the durability will not be as much as the v3 variant. So, it would be ideal to unlock the v1 and make your way up to the v3 variant of this tool.

Furthermore, you will need a high-level Workbench or an Assembly Line to craft the tools.
