Books of Knowledge are special rewards given during the endgame in Path of Exile 2. This currency is used to accumulate points for the Atlas passive skill tree, which can enhance a player's experience in the maps. The maps have a total of 16 tiers of difficulty, 15 of which must be experienced before getting every Book of Knowledge in the game. However, they can be collected once per league, and all alternate characters will have them acquired in the same account.

This article states the methods to get Books of Knowledge in the early stages of mapping, how many are available in total, and the perfect Atlas strategy to sustain those points.

Note that getting two Citadel kills will always help, which is going to be significantly easier with an upcoming patch.

Books of Knowledge and how to get them in Path of Exile 2

As mentioned, Books of Knowledge are currencies that grant passive Atlas skill points for players. These are similar to the Books of Specialization in Path of Exile 1, which grants Passive Skill points for the character. However, the Knowledge books are meant for the endgame, and exclusively for the maps and Waystones.

You will start getting Books of Knowledge from Doryani once you complete a tier of Waystone as required by the "Catalclysm's Wake" mission. Each of these Books grants two points for the Atlas Skill Tree. The mission starts once you are done with Cruel Act III and the Zigurrat Refuge social hub opens up.

However, do note that these points are meant for the primary tree in the middle of the Atlas passive screen, while the other surrounding trees are meant for league mechanics and bosses.

There are a total of 15 Books of Knowledge that Doryani will give you throughout the entire map progression process. With the upgrade of each tier, you will receive one Book for 2 points, with a total of 30 maximum points. Once you are done leveling up through 15 tiers of Waystones, you can use Vaal Orbs to get a Tier 16.

Each step of the "Cataclysm's Wake" quest requires you to complete a specific number of Waystone tier maps, up to 15. Once you are done with a set of Waystone tier and have upgraded to the next one, make sure to visit Doryani for the Book of Knowledge.

Best Atlas strategy for upgrading Waystone tiers in Path of Exile 2

To get the Books of Knowledge, you must have a solid Atlas strategy that'll let you receive Waystones as drops from maps. For this, you will need specific Atlas Passive points.

Here is our Atlas Strategy for getting increased Waystone drops, followed by a few more boss points to significantly enhance those drops:

The following strategy goes further into the Boss Atlas tree, which can be acquired by defeating bosses in Citadels. This particular strategy will become significantly easier with an upcoming patch, where every Citadel will be highlighted on the map. Upon defeating a Citadel boss, you can follow this strategy:

As long as you have the "Radiant Waystones" passive node, you should have a 100% chance to get a Waystone from map bosses, with an increased chance of getting a higher tier Waystone as well.

Getting increased Waystones will help you push through the map tiers faster, which in turn, will help you get Books of Knowledge quicker.
