Exalted Orbs is currently one of the two primary trading currencies in Path of Exile 2. Any gear piece, skill gem, or league currency in the game can be traded with other players with Exalted Orbs, amidst other uses in the crafting system. This currency should be familiar to many veterans of the series, as the entirety of the market was once dominated by Exalt, back in PoE 1.
This time, it has found some relevance, since having an Exalted Orb in Path of Exile 2 is necessary for trade in early access. There are several ways to obtain Exalt from the game, and nearly everything dropped by enemies can be traded in the market to obtain them.
This article lists the basics of Exalted Orb, how to efficiently obtain them, and use them in crafting.
How to get Exalted Orb in Path of Exile 2
As mentioned earlier, an Exalted Orb can be traded for anything in the game. However — this is viable in the trading league — not for someone farming in Solo Self-Found.
Solo Self-Found mode in Path of Exile 2 does not enable player trading in any way, allowing players only to build their characters surrounding drops from enemies, vendors, and league mechanics.
Here is a list of all the efficient ways you can farm Exalted Orb both in the trading league and in SSF (viable for PoE 2 early access):
Trading leagues:
In trading leagues, you can pick up any gear piece or currency from the ground, and sell it to other players. There are options to sell, one being the in-game trading chat, and the other being the Path of Exile 2 trading website. The latter requires a premium stash tab. You can list anything within these tabs, set an Exalt price, and the item will be listed on the website.
Rare items with multiple high-tier modifiers can go for numerous Exalts, alongside specific Unique items. Hence, if you are looking to sell something — it is best to search the trading website to price-check — and then list it via your premium tab, or the trade chat. One of the efficient ways to gather Exalt is by running league mechanics.
Here are some league mechanics we recommend for Exalts:
- Ritual: Look for Omens and an Audience with the King in the Altar rewards.
- Breach: Collect Breach Splinters or make Breachstones.
- Essence: Greater Essences go for multiple Exalts in the market.
- Ultimatum: The final boss drop, the three Fates, go for numerous Exalts. You will need a 10-room Inscribed Ultimatum for this.
Gather each loot mentioned above — and then sell them via trade chat, trading market, or currency exchange.
SSF:
The only way to get Exalted Orb in SSF is via enemy drops or the Ritual Altar. One of the most efficient ways to maximize the Exalted drop rate is by stacking rarity on your gear pieces — and having Atlas tree nodes that offer "rarity" and "quantity". Trading is disabled in SSF — so any gear you find goes towards Disenchantment or Gold.
You can refer to our complete guide on Ritual mechanics for a clearer idea of everything.
There is no guaranteed way to gather Exalted Orb from SSF leagues — except for stacking rarity through Atlas tree, gear piece, and Waystone modifiers.
In that case, the chances of getting an Exalted Orb significantly increase from Magic, Rare, and Unique enemies.
How to use Exalted Orbs in Path of Exile 2?
Exalted Orbs can be used to add random affixes on a rare item. This can be either weapons, armor pieces, pieces of jewelry, Waystones, or anything that is of the yellow tier with modifiers on it. The additional benefit of having Exalted Orbs — if you are in a trading league — is to buy anything worth your build.
