Orbs of Alchemy are crafting currencies required to upgrade a normal item to a rare tier in Path of Exile 2. These orbs are especially useful in the early game when players are trying to get the best modifiers on their gears for leveling up. However, Orbs of Alchemy doesn't come cheap when someone is in the initial stages of a campaign.

How to get Orbs of Alchemy in Path of Exile 2

Orbs of Alchemy is a rare currency and can be dropped from any enemies either in acts, trials, or maps. However — during the early standard acts — your only option is to upgrade the normal items to the magic tier and check on any vendor for rare-tier gear pieces.

Next — only when you are in the Cruel difficulty — you can farm rare-tier enemies for a drop of Alchemy Orb.

These enemies can be found anywhere between Cruel Act I and III. However, some guaranteed rare combatants spawn in specific acts — so you can defeat them, use a corpse-destroying skill — and reload checkpoint to repeat the process. Rare enemies have increased chances of dropping Orbs of Alchemy in Cruel difficulty, and even Exalted Orbs.

Lim the Impaler from Halani Gates Cruel Act II, and Ninth Treasure of Keth from Lost City Cruel Act II are two rare enemies you can target-farm for a chance at getting multiple Alchemy Orbs early in your playtime. Just defeat the enemies mentioned, destroy their corpses with skill, and reload a checkpoint to start over.

You must do this in Cruel difficulty — as the standard version has a very low drop rate of rare currencies.

How to use Orbs of Alchemy in Path of Exile 2

As mentioned earlier, an Orb of Alchemy is used to upgrade a normal item to a rare-tier item with additional modifiers. This is similar to Regal Orb, which can upgrade a magic Item to rare. Alchemy is more sought-after because it allows players to gain access to multiple modifiers in an item during early game, resulting in easy leveling.

To use an Orb of Alchemy, simply right-click and release on the Orb if you are on PC, and drag it onto the normal item you want to upgrade. Next, release the button and the item will be upgraded. The number of modifiers of the upgraded item can be randomized between four to six.
