Anoint in Path of Exile 2 is a crafting mechanic every player must engage in towards the endgame. The basic theory behind anointing is to put a key passive node onto an Amulet, especially something with great synergy with the build. The reason is to reach for a passive node far from the build's usual path in the skill tree, allowing players to get it without sacrificing points.

This article lists the basics of anointing an Amulet in Path of Exile 2, including how to anoint an Amulet, materials to look for, and more.

Anointing an Amulet requires Distilled emotions from the Delirium league mechanic. These emotions vary a lot in terms of price in the market, most of which are determined via the rarity of drops and the passive potency tied to that emotion.

As mentioned, the term "anoint" refers to the process where you can use a certain combination of three Distilled emotions on an Amulet. This will then put in a key passive node from the skill tree that follows that combination of emotions, and the Amulet will now have the passive node as an extra crafted Implicit.

Let us take a very popular build as an example, called the Infernalist Skeletal Reaver. Most passive nodes required for this build are either on the top side of the tree for the Mana stacker or on the left side for the Life stacker. However, one particular key passive node required for this build is at the bottom of the tree, called Flashy Deflection.

Going to Flashy Deflection will require sacrificing several other important points required for the build, making the build weak.

Here is when "Anoint" comes into play. You can hover over the "Flashy Deflection" passive node and see which Distilled Emotions are required to anoint the passive on your Amulet. In this case, it should be Distilled Greed, Guilt, and Greed in that specific order.

You can either collect all three of these emotions from a map featuring the Delirium mechanic or purchase them from the Currency Exchange shop. A map with a Delirium mechanic can be identified by the white icon with black horns, something similar to the image given below.

Once you have the required emotions, right-click on any of the emotions, and a window for anoint will pop up. Here, put Greed, Guilt, and Greed in that order from left to right, followed by the Amulet on the top slot. Click on "Instil," and the Amulet will now have "Allocates Flashy Deflection" as one of its modifiers.

You can change the passive node again with another combination, replacing the old one. Other passive nodes, such as Potent Concoctions, require Disgust, Ire, and Guilt, while Sturdy Metal requires Paranoia, Greed, and Disgust. The same theory applies to every key passive node in the tree.
