Path of Exile 2: Chetza the Feathered Plague boss guide

Path of Exile 2 Chetza The Feathered Plague
Chetza the Feathered Plague is a real gatekeeper if you want to complete the Trial of Chaos - here's how to overcome it (Image via Grinding Gear Games)

What makes Path of Exile 2’s Chetza the Feathered Plague difficult is several factors. It already has a dangerous moveset that can easily one-shot even the best players. It also has an add that will show up to cause problems. On top of that, you have to deal with all the choices you’ve made up until that point in the Trial of Chaos. That means you — or your group can make this fight go from hard, to nearly impossible.

If you’re struggling against Chetza the Feathered Plague in Path of Exile 2, don’t feel bad. Lots of players are, right now. Sometimes you just have to come back with more levels, and better gear and try again. However, we’re going to highlight its most dangerous moves, so you can be ready for them.

How to beat Chetza the Feathered Plague in Path of Exile 2

Chetza the Feathered Plague is one of the bosses you’ll fight at level 4 of Path of Exile 2’s Trial of Chaos. On your first run, however, it’s going to always be the foe you fight — at least in my experience. I’ve never seen a different boss pop up — that could change now that I can use my other Ultimatums in Trial of Chaos.

While Chetza the Feathered Plague only has a few attacks to be aware of in Path of Exile 2, it’s these, when combined with the other potential AOE effects that make it so hard. In my case, I had constant laser beams, on top of additional electric pulses washing over the fight, so I had to move non-stop. If you have these extra bits of damage going on, make sure you’re good at Dodge Rolling.

Chetza has some melee attacks, but the primary thing to make things dangerous is the rain of corpses. This Path of Exile 2 boss will periodically rain down bird corpses that transform into explosions of blood on impact. These deal an incredible amount of damage and can easily one-shot you. Make sure to keep moving to avoid these.

The other major move is the spiral of bone spikes. These pop up quickly, and if you get hit, inflict Maim. This slows you down and makes it easier for the rain of corpses to hit you. It’s a devastating combo if you get caught up in it.

The part that made this boss battle feel impossible to me was actually the summoned Plagueling. At 50%, and again when it’s almost dead, Chetza the Feathered Plague will summon an aggressive bird minion to fight you. You absolutely must make it your priority when it first shows up.

It will chase you around and fight you, so defeat it while dodging everything else. If you defeat Chetza while one is still alive, you will still have to kill that Plagueling, so be careful, and don’t relax until everything is dead.

This fight is made much easier by ranged attacks, that’s for sure. Minion builds have it easy since they can stay on the move, inflict curses, and let their minions do the bulk of the damage. It’s not so bad on melee characters either, as long as they’re quick to move out of the way of incoming AOE attacks.

Your first success against this boss will grant you +2 Ascension Points, and let you retry the Trials of Chaos, if you have other Inscribed Ultimatum items.
