Path of Exile 2’s Act 2 features a variety of deep quests, including The City of Seven Waters. This quest is potentially one of the earliest quests you can do, as the order in which you do things in Act 2 is more free-flowing than the previous Act. In this quest, you’ll need to travel to the Buried Shrines under Keth and defeat a powerful foe to help the Water Goddess.
The quest is also home to the boss Azarian the Forsaken Son — so pack some Fire Resistance. If you need help figuring out what to do for The City of Seven Waters quest in Path of Exile 2, here’s a step-by-step guide.
How to complete The City of Seven Waters in Path of Exile 2
The City of Seven Waters will have you traveling to Keth, and exploring the Lost City. There are several large maps to explore in this quest, culminating in a powerful, fire-spewing boss in Azarian the Forsaken Son. Below are the steps you need to take.
- Travel to Keth.
- Explore the Lost City.
- Explore the Buried Shrines.
- Defeat Azarian.
- Meet the Water Goddess.
- Speak to Zarka.
When you’re ready to start The City of Seven Waters in Path of Exile 2, use the Desert Map to have the Caravan stop at Keth. It’s worth noting that while you’re exploring Keth, looking for the Lost CIty, you can stumble into the boss Kabala, Constrictor Queen. She drops a Book of Specialisation, so go out of the way to find her.
The entrance to The Lost City will be connected to a building with a glowing doorway for you to enter. While it’s very easy to spot, the map is huge. So, there’s no telling where it will actually be. You’re here for the Essence of Water, and you can’t get it until you Explore the Lost City and reach the bottom of this dungeon.
You’ll keep exploring this dimly lit area until you find the entrance to the Buried Shrines, somewhere on this map. It’s worth exploring everywhere on these maps though. There’s a ton of potentially amazing treasure to find in the various tombs and chests.
Before you leave for the Buried Shrines, there are a few other rooms you should explore. The Hall of Temptation, for example, has you fighting swarms of Terracotta Soldiers, to loot a sarcophagus. There’s another room that offers you one of three elemental offerings. Each of these has a Charm, so take the element you’d like to defend against the most.
Then, you’re free to head down to the next area. The Buried Shrines didn’t quite feel as vast as the previous map, thankfully. In this area, you are looking for The Vestibule, which is home to Azarian the Forsaken Son.
With fire resistance and situational awareness, this is a very easy battle. Make sure you don’t point him at any of the braziers in this room. Your attacks or his can break the braziers and prematurely set a portion of the room on fire. By the end, the entire room will likely be up in flames. That said, the final boss of The City of Seven Waters in Path of Exile 2 is only as hard as you make him.
He has strong melee strikes and cones/lines of fire he can launch at you. If you’re at the dungeon level (~22) or higher, he’s pretty easy. After he’s been defeated, head into the next room, and meet the Water Goddess. She will ask you to put her out of her misery by using the cinders on her. Do so, and you’ll claim the water. Speak to Zerka to wrap this quest up.
