Throughout your time in Path of Exile 2, you will come across items called Jewels. While it may not be clear what to do with them, they go into your passive skill tree, which doesn't have many slots. That said, these gems can significantly boost your build, provided you find the right Jewel and a socket.
Don’t confuse them for Charms though. Jewels are a completely different type of resource for your Path of Exile 2 character. I’ve come across a few of them during my playthrough, but sadly, sockets weren’t quite on the route yet. If you want to know what Jewels do, here’s what you need to know.
What are Jewels and how to use them in Path of Exile 2?
Jewels are pieces of equipment in Path of Exile 2 that you slot into Jewel Sockets in your Passive Skill Tree. However, they are often significantly some distance away from where you start. Of course, this depends on the route you take and the class you’re playing. In my case, as a Witch, I found a few, but they are far from the starting point.
Depending on how I routed, I could get to the first Jewel Socket in Path of Exile 2 as a Minion Witch. However, it didn’t work for me at the time nor did I have a Jewel to equip there. These items will drop throughout the game: if you have one, all you need next is a Jewel Socket.
If you can’t find them though, don’t worry. They are empty sockets on your Passive Skill Tree, so they do stand out. To make things slightly easier, use the search bar on the right side and type “jewel socket.” This will make Jewel Sockets pulse.
Hopefully, Grinding Gear Games will make this even more obvious – perhaps with a color or a bigger pulse. As it currently stands, they can still be difficult to spot. Once you have a Jewel and a Socket along your path, simply activate it in your inventory. This will allow you to place it in that slot.
If you have multiple Jewels in Path of Exile 2 or purchase one that fits better on the Auction House, you can swap them around in the same manner.
While Jewels can be incredibly powerful and affect your build, follow a route that already benefits you instead of going out of your way for a Jewel Socket. If it fits into your routing and build, then by all means, slot one in! But avoid ruining your build simply to add some minion life.
