Path of Exile 2 is an incredibly long game, and it's highly unlikely that you'll hit the max level during the campaign — unless you spend a great deal of time farming maps and only grinding through levels. No matter what character you’re playing, the level cap is far higher than what you can reach just by playing through the main story quests normally, and that’s a good thing.

That way, you’re still gaining levels and growing stronger throughout your endgame activities once the campaign ends. If you want to know where the end of the road is for your Path of Exile 2 character, here’s what the current level cap is.

What is the max level/level cap of Path of Exile 2?

The max level of Path of Exile 2 is level 100. As you go through the game and play through the acts, you probably won’t get any higher than level 65 or 70, depending on how you play. This gives you room for growth as you take part in other post-story activities. Getting stronger is more than simply having a high level though. A great deal of your power comes from the Skill Gems/Support Gems you have, as well as powerful gear.

Whether you’re leveling a Software (standard) or Hardcore character, the level cap is the same, though your methods of getting there may vary. You have to be a bit more careful as a Hardcore player. Ideally, Level 70 is going to be the level you wrap up the story on, though.

Going from level 70 to level 100 is a more challenging journey. You’ll need to have - or at least start working on - a reliable, powerful build, decent gear, grinding through higher-tier maps, and taking part in a variety of endgame activities to get as much exp as possible. It’s certainly a difficult road, and while not really required for most players, it’s a goal worth achieving.

If you aren’t trying to perfect your build and get everything exactly where you want it to be, getting to level 70 and moving on is perfectly fine - but that’s not the Path of Exile 2 level cap. If you want to go all the way, you’ve got an incredibly long road ahead of you.
