Path of Exile 2’s The Mysterious Shade quest picks up where Secrets in the Dark left off. The search for proof of the count’s crimes continues, and it will ultimately lead us to a lone, desolate man in a graveyard. However, before we can get there, it will be imperative to clear through the dank and dark Grim Tangle zone.
This Act I quest is shorter than some of the others but is still important. If you’re stuck on what to do for The Mysterious Shade in Path of Exile 2, we’re here to get you on track.
How to complete The Mysterious Shade quest in Path of Exile 2
After you complete Secrets in the Dark, The Mysterious Shade awaits in Path of Exile 2. You may also have the Find the Forge quest, but you cannot complete it as of yet. It will only be available once you’ve pushed deeper into the Act. This quest involves you going through The Grim Tangle zone, and finding your way to The Cemetery of the Eternals. The primary objectives have been mentioned below.
Objectives
- Travel to The Grim Tangle
- Explore The Grim Tangle
- Speak to Lachlann The Lost
Unlike a lot of zones in Path of Exile 2, The Grim Tangle is found in a hole in the ground, typically towards the middle of The Grelwood. It features a path leading downward, surrounded by trees and yellow, glowing mushrooms. That’s your key to enter and head down for this part of The Mysterious Shade - Travel to The Grim Tangle. Once inside, summon and speak to Una, before progressing.
One of the most dangerous parts of The Grim Tangle are those yellow glowing mushrooms. If you get close to them, they explode and hurt a great deal. Moreover, enemies that perish in this area often create Spore Puddles, which damage you if you step into them. Sometimes, you just have to wait, due to how narrow the tunnels are.
As you explore The Grim Tangle, you’re almost sure to stumble upon Ervig, the Rotten Druid. They are an optional fight as far as we’re aware, but are still worth doing battle with. They will inflict lots of AOEs on the ground, as well as around themselves, that do tons of damage.
If you can fight from a distance, the fight is much easier. You also don’t want to get caught in the huge mushroom growth in the center of his arena. Like all the others, this hurts a great deal.
These tunnels are relatively straightforward, so after some exploration, you will find yourself in the Cemetery of the Eternals. This is where you will find Lachlann the Lost. You should come to the surface, and see Lachlann the Lost and the Waypoint almost immediately. Speak to him to wrap this quest up, and begin Sorrow Among Stones.
