Path of Exile 2's Trial of the Sekhemas has uses beyond just granting cool unique items and Ascendancy classes. This activity also serves as the only location to obtain the elusive Time-Lost Jewels, which are used to modify Passive Skill Tree nodes, and in turn, add another layer to the already extensive gearing list in Path of Exile 2.

Jewels are randomized items that can be slotted in specific locations in the Passive Skill Tree, providing the bonuses of the explicit affixes when conditions — if any — are met. They come in four variants and have certain restrictions when rolling affixes. This guide will plot out all the possible ways to obtain Time-Lost Jewels and any additional intricacies needed to get more power.

Here's how you can get Time-Lost Jewels in Path of Exile 2

Time-Lost Jewels are exclusive drops from the Trial of the Sekhemas, specifically from the Time-Lost Caches found at the end of the fourth floor after defeating Zarokh, the Temporal.

These Caches come in three variants, similar to the other reward chests in Trials of the Sekhemas. And like other chests, you must spend a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Key based on the Cache's rarity. As for the Jewels themselves, these come in four formats, similar to their normal counterparts.

The four Time-Lost Jewels have certain restrictions and affix roles that they can roll with. Time-Lost Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald can be obtained as normal items and have affixes allocated with normal crafting methods. Time-Lost Diamond, on the other hand, is available as a unique item called Against the Darkness and can be obtained directly as a drop from the Zarokh, the Temporal boss.

Time-Lost Jewels have an innate range modifier attached to each item. Time-Lost Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Jewels can roll a range radius between Medium and Large. These radius ranges indicate how many Passive nodes can be affected by the Time-Lost Jewel affixes. The unique Against the Darkness can only roll a Large radius by default.

Considering the affix modifiers, the general rule you should follow is that Emerald Jewels generally roll ranged and evasion-based modifiers. Likewise, Energy Shield and Caster-based affixes roll on Sapphires, and Martial and Armour-based modifiers roll on Ruby Jewels. The unique Against the Darkness can roll any modifier across all affix lists.

Aside from drops in the Trial of the Sekhemas, Time-Lost Jewels can be purchased from the official trade site, although the lack of defined affix selectors makes it difficult to search for the right item.
