Path of Exile 2’s Trial of Chaos features some truly ferocious bosses — perhaps none more so than Uxmal, the Beastlord. The battle takes place in a huge area with lots of stairs, and you’re going to spend more time than not chasing it around, and avoiding a variety of elemental attacks. This boss can use all elemental types, so you really have to be on your guard. Having elemental resistances will help, but if you can avoid them altogether, that will be even better.
If you remember the Xyclucian the Chimera boss fight, it will be similar to that in some ways. Both fights are Chimera, use all elemental attacks, and can hit incredibly hard. However, Path of Exile 2’s Uxmal the Beastlord has something Xyclucian doesn’t — its attacks don’t go away.
How to beat Uxmal, the Beastlord in Path of Exile 2
Depending on where Uxmal, the Beastlord is on this Path of Exile 2 map, that will change what you have to deal with — at least in our experience. It frequently flies off to other parts of the map, and you’ll have to track it down. Thankfully, it doesn’t have adds to fight at the same time.
When it lands, it does a devastating AOE stomp attack, and may simply rise and do this without leaving the area. In addition, it’s very fond of using a flame breath attack from the air. After this, Uxmal the Beastlord will often fly away during this Path of Exile 2 boss fight.
One thing that makes this fight incredibly difficult, is that the after-effects of Uxmal the Beastlords breath weapons don’t go away after they’ve been used. You can see what to expect below, as well as potential status ailments.
- Bottom Level: Lightning Breath - walking through this deals damage and inflicts Shock. This area can also explode and hit you with lightning damage.
- Medium Level: Ice Breath - walking through the icy patches slows you and can inflict Chill.
- Upper Level: Fire Breath - walking through the burning ground deals damage and may inflict Ignite.
These patches of breath weapon ground will remain until the fight ends, so make sure you navigate carefully and also dps as hard as you can. Additionally, it can also spit a fireball that deals heavy damage if it hits you.
It can also spit out volleys of poison that not only stick around like the ice/lightning/fire breath attacks, they can really blend in with the water. It’s best to stay on the move and dodge roll through these poison blobs.
This fight is very much a race against time because you don’t want too many of those AOE areas to hit the ground. Once you’ve defeated Uxmal the Beastlord in Path of Exile 2, you can claim your rewards and crafting materials, and move on into Act 3 or beyond.
