Path of Exile 2: Doryani boss guide

Path of Exile 2’s Act 3 ends with Doryani refusing to go quietly. The most intense fight up until this point, defeating them will unlock the Cruel difficulty in PoE 2. With massive AOE blasts, lots of lasers, and virtually every elemental in the game, it’s not an easy fight. If you can stay mobile, watch out for tells, and avoid AOE blasts, you can get out of it unscathed. However, first, you must get through the entire final dungeon of Act 3.

Unlike the previous boss, Viper Natpuatzi, you have a large arena to work with, and two distinct forms/phases to deal with. If you’re struggling with Doryani, Royal Thaumaturge, or Doryani’s Triumph in Path of Exile 2, we’ll help you square them away.

How to beat Doryani in Path of Exile 2

At the end of the Black Chambers, Doryani awaits in Path of Exile 2. It can be frustrating to deal with the various lasers and charged attacks of this boss because they always start aimed right at you. Thankfully, there’s a windup to these blasts, so if you stay close to Doryani, you can roll around and get out of the way easier.

Conversely, you can just keep moving if you have decent Movement Speed, to not get hit.

Doryani has a wide assortment of lasers in Path of Exile 2. There’s a short-range red beam with a burst at the end, which is incredibly easy to not be in the path of. He can also shoot a beam of crackling lightning, or activate a flamethrower — both of these chase you. Finally, there’s the large red cone of lasers, which must be avoided.

He can also drop a series of little red bombs that blow up after a brief activation. You can run across them and get away in time to keep them off the field. He does have one truly devastating beam in Phase 1, though. He’ll shoot a series of red beams that will flash on the screen, and, then, activate.

These lasers will rotate slowly and trigger several times in a row. You absolutely must avoid them. I find that melee players can stay close and still continue to hit Doryani in Path of Exile 2, provided they keep moving with the rotation. These can hit incredibly hard — do not stand in them. This is where Minion builds really shine. You can stay mobile, hit a curse, and just let the swarm do the work.

Finally, there will be the occasional lightning pylon that triggers if you get close to it. Like the bombs, you can run right around these to trigger them, if you’re fast enough. Make sure to get out of the growing radius it spawns. At 50%, Doryani becomes Doryani’s Triumph in Path of Exile 2 and gets a full heal.

This is where the fight really begins. The laser attacks are stronger, and now it has giant fists to slam the ground with. You want to stay on its sides as much as possible. It has a powerful laser beam array that it can shoot in the back — this one shot me on my first time fighting it.

You also need to watch out for the charging of the front legs of Doryani in Path of Exile 2. As long as you can stay out of its reach it won’t hurt you.

This is where the powerful ice and fire beams come from. They will chase you and hit incredibly hard. If that weren’t enough, the boss also gets a full heal when Phase 2 starts. It will also detach a piece to fire random lasers, as well as detach its back to drop AoE damage.

It will erupt after a brief delay, but the size of the AoEs are massive. It can also briefly explode, creating a lightning AoE, which is, thankfully, smaller than the fire one. You also have tiny fire AoEs to contend with, and a powerful laser that locks onto you, and after a delay, fires a red laser that chases you.

Doryani’s Triumph in Path of Exile 2 has one more incredibly powerful AoE — watch for it to transform and hover in the air. It will chase you and show an AoE area you need to not be in. I almost got one-shot by it, even though I was barely on the cusp of it.

In my experience, right as Doryani got to its final sliver of health, it started charging up and using an electricity attack; That said, it died before anything could come of it, thanks to the power of my Minion build. You’ll certainly want to dump as much damage as you can then to avoid the lightning damage, and shield that it can use.

Victory here, will unlock Cruel difficulty, as well as a bit of story to explain why you’re going back to Act 1 content again. Claim your rewards, and when you’re ready, head back, in time, in Path of Exile 2.
