Path of Exile's new league is set to be a huge win for GGG (Grinding Gear Games) over Blizzard's Diablo 4 Season 5. Fans of ARPGs have surely been following the competition between these two giants as PoE has taken a foothold and begun to surpass Diablo. Over the last five or six years Blizzard has seen a marked decline in consistent player numbers and support from its fans across most of its titles.
The upcoming patch 3.25 league for Path of Exile has introduced massive new changes and impressive amounts of content. While Blizzard has yet to reveal everything about their upcoming season, it's looking like PoE will once again come out on top.
In this article, we'll explain the new content coming out for both Path of Exile and Diablo 4, and how they compete with each other.

Path of Exile's upcoming league vs Diablo 4 Season 5
Path of Exile and Diablo 4 are set to release their newest league and season, respectively, this year. While both are planning some big changes, the sentiment seems to be that Path of Exile will be releasing the superior patch yet again. However, Blizzard has clearly been listening to their playerbase, as many of the recent and proposed upcoming changes seem to align with player feedback.
Path of Exile's upcoming patch Settlers of Kalguur will be introducing a host of new and never-before-seen content. One of the most prominent changes patch 3.25 will be implementing is a full melee rework. This will include the removal of all melee totems, a complete rework of banner skills, and massive buffs across the board for all melee abilities. This league will also be introducing a full town system that players can manage, as well as a new currency, and a conversion market.
Diablo 4's season 5 mostly consists of fixing old problems, as opposed to the introduction of new content like in PoE's league. There are sweeping changes being made to balance classes, the most prominent of which is sorcerer, a class that players have been unhappy with since launch. There will also be changes to the spawn rates, drop rates, and crafting connected to Infernal Hordes, as well as some changes to Helltides. This is unfortunately all the information we're privy to now, as Blizzard has only divulged some details of Season 5 to select content creators.

Diablo and Path of Exile have begun to settle into their respective niches over the last several years. Diablo caters to those who enjoy the simpler and more intuitive build style, whereas PoE appeals to an extremely hardcore crowd of ARPG players. Although it goes without saying that GGG has taken far more reputational victories than Blizzard recently, there is a place for both games in the genre. Hopefully, going forward, Blizzard will be able to correct the issues that have plagued Diablo 4 and the games will coexist healthily.
