Specimen ID NES006 is the final specimen mission from Failsafe in Destiny 2 Echoes Act 2. Everyone's favorite AI is back in another reset where she is asking Guardians to collect more specimens scattered across different corners of Nessus. This has been the usual chore for the players since the start of Echoes and will continue in the next Act as well.
The final week of the NES specimen mission in Act 2 takes players to a little detour, as things aren't straightforward compared to previous editions. Everyone must go the extra step this time to find the mission at first, as it will not be handed out by Failsafe.
This article lists everything related to the Specimen ID NES006 mission in Echoes Act 2, including a walkthrough, associated rewards, and more.
How to complete the Specimen ID NES006 mission in Destiny 2
1) Prerequisites
Before starting the NES006 mission, make sure you have the final quest steps of A Rising Chorus Act 2 completed. The last step of the seasonal mission required players to run the Mission Shell from Nessus, where everyone got to witness Saint-14's tomb and meet Maya Sundaresh for the first time this season.
Once "A Rising Chorus" quest shows the mission step "Failsafe will contact you when Act III begins," know that you have completed Act 2 missions.
2) Picking up the NES006 mission
As mentioned, the NES006 mission must be picked from one of the three Battleground missions in Episode Echoes. Here is a list of all the locations:
I) Battleground Core
Just before the boss room, near the edge of the big Vex Radiolaria fall.
II) Battleground Delve
In the second traversal location, you find a Vex pillar that requires a Piston Hammer to break. Look for a collectible just beside this pillar.
III) Battleground Conduit
In the first traversal section, within the area before the first encounter.
3) Defeat enemies with Sidearm or Auto Rifle
You can use Indebted Kindness for this, as having Volshot is effective against groups of enemies. Locations can include either a Battleground or Breach Executable. However, if you are confident in your abilities, getting a Necrochasm or a powerful Auto Rifle against Guardians is also recommended.
The Week 3 of Act 2 has Momentum Control, making it easy for all weapons to shut down players quickly.
4) Defeat enemies with Solar or Arc
We recommend an Arc primary weapon against Guardians in Momentum Control. However, if you do not have the game mode active, go with Indebted Kindness inside Breach Executable or Battlegrounds.
5) Generate Orbs of Power
Generating Orbs of Power inside Gambit game mode will grant increased progress towards completion of this step. An easy way to do this is to equip the Speaker's Sight Exotic helmet on Warlock, and then hop into a Gambit game mode with a healing turret. Song of Flame can be the Super of choice.
6) Speak with Failsafe
Speak with Failsafe to receive the Specimen, and place it as marked. Doing this will unlock the focusing for Perfect Paradox Shotgun, and reward you with the seasonal challenge completion, triumph completion, an upgraded Torch Hammer, and Glimmer.
The upgraded Torch Hammer will allow you to spawn special bosses with a Battleground mission. They can be found near the closed Vex gates in all three Battlegrounds.
