Karagga's Palace in Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR) is a multiple-boss Operation. Since Operations in SWTOR are subscriber-exclusive content, you cannot access Karagga's Palace if you are free-to-play or preferred. This Operation includes five bosses and various mobs, and the boss fights are pretty straightforward in general.
This article will walk you through the group composition, bosses, mechanics, and potential rewards that you can get in Karagga's Palace.
SWTOR Karagga's Palace raid guide: Party composition
Karagga's Palace in SWTOR has two difficulty modes, Story and Veteran. The teams can be either eight-man or 16-man, the two standard Operation team sizes in SWTOR. Given below are recommended team compositions for both eight-man and 16-man Story and Veteran Mode Karagga's Palace:
- 8-man Story: One tank, one healer, and six DPS are sufficient for the eight-man Story Mode.
- 16-man Story: One tank, two healers, and the rest DPS are recommended for the 16-man. If needed, one DPS can be swapped for a healer.
- 8-man Veteran: One tank, one DwT, two healers, and four DPS are needed for the eight-man Veteran Mode. The DwT can also be swapped for a second tank.
- 16-man Veteran: Two tanks, at least three healers, and the rest DPS are needed for a 16-man Veteran Mode Karagga's Palace.
SWTOR Karagga's Palace: Bosses and mechanics
1) Bonethrasher
Bonethrasher is the first boss you will face in the Operation. It is untauntable and picks out a random player on every attack. All of its attacks are cleaves, so it is better if everyone except the targeted player stays behind him.
Every once in a while, a Gammorean with a red beam on it spawns and you have to kill him before Bonethrasher reaches him. Once Bonethrasher's health drops to 50%, two Manka Cat adds spawn and the DPS need to kill them.
Overall, this fight is pretty straightforward, and the mechanics are the same for both Story and Veteran Modes.
2) Jarg and Sorno
In the next boss fight, you need to kill Jarg and Sorno, two Bounty Hunters employed by Karagga. Jarg is melee and Sorno is ranged, and they have similar styles to the Powertech and Mercenary classes, respectively.
Here, everyone needs to stack on Sorno so that he does not jump to a random player outside the group. The tank also stays with the group but taunts Jarg, and all DPS should focus on Sorno first.
Sorno occasionally jumps upstairs, and the DPS should switch to Jarg during the time Sorno stays up. Sorno would cast AoE damage on a random player, which appears as a purple circle on the ground. If you get the circle under you, you need to get out of it.
While Sorno is upstairs, a carbonizer probe spawns that freezes the tank, making Jarg focus on another player. The probe needs to be killed quickly so that the tank can taunt Jarg again.
Finally, both Jarg and Sorno need to die roughly at the same time. In Story Mode, the one that is alive will get a buff called Avengeance about 30 seconds after the other is killed. It inceases damage dealt and reduces the damage taken. In Veteran Mode, the one that is alive receives the buff as soon as the other is killed.
3) Foreman Crusher
Foreman Crusher is the third boss you face in this Operation. He just needs the tank to hold him while the DPS attacks. When the fight starts, the tank should stay near the red-shielded gate in front of Foreman Crusher. He causes some AoE damage to anyone that stands under him.
Foreman Crusher has cleaves, and only the tank should stand in front of him. Every time the boss' health decreases by 20%, he jumps up, and when he lands, he causes damage and knocks everyone a few meters back. On every 25% health decrease on the boss, a group of adds spawn.
They should be kept under the boss to affect them with AoE damage. Ocassionally, a red circle appears on a random player, and Foreman Crusher hurls a rock at them. The player should get out of the circle as soon as possible. The rock kicks up dust where it lands, and if you stay in the dust, it reduces accuracy and healing done by 100%.
Foreman Crusher occasionally knocks down the tank and jumps on a random player, stunning them for a couple of seconds. The tank should taunt him back and continue the fight as usual.
4) G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator Droid
Fighting the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator in Karagga's Palace is simple in Story Mode, but there is a puzzle that you need to do in Veteran Mode.
Story Mode
In Story Mode, the puzzle consoles are there, but you only need to click the activation button without doing the puzzle. The consoles are on the higher platform, so either a ranged DPS or the healer needs to stay near it to click the activation button.
The boss is invulnerable at the start due to stacks of Energized Exotech Armor. You need to click the activation button in order to start the fight. Upon clicking the button, lava will come out of the incinerator above it, removing his armor and making him vulnerable to more damage.
The tank needs to hold the boss by making it face the wall beside it while DPS attacks him from behind. The G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator casts an armor reduction debuff on the tank, and the former needs to be taunted away by a DwT or another tank if the primary gets 10 stacks of the debuff.
The activation key starts glowing periodically, and it needs to be clicked quickly. Delay means that the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator will start to regain armor. Delay in pressing also means that probes start spawing, which would either stun you or explode, knocking you down and immobilizing you for a couple of seconds.
Veteran Mode
In the Veteran Mode, the puzzle needs to be manually done. There are three consoles on the higher platform, and the activation key is in the same position: beside the first console.
Each console has a screen in front of it with three stages: (1), (2), and (3). In order to activate the lava switch, the stages need to be arranged on the screens in front of the first console, with (3), (2), and (1) arranged from bottom to top. Once it is arranged, the incinerator can be fired.
Mistakes during the puzzle and delays mean that the probes start spawning. So being quick is the best way to get through the boss. Too many probes spawning can lead to a wipe.
Also note that if you stand under the lava in the Veteran Mode, you get damaged by its AoE. So, you should stay back a bit while the incinerator fires. The rest of the fight is the same as in the Story Mode.
5) Karagga the Unyielding
The final boss in Karagga's Palace is Karagga himself. He can cleave from both the front and the back, so while the tank holds him, all DPS should be on his sides. Red circles appear under the boss, and the tank should kite him along the walls as the red circles are puddles of oil that catch fire and deal heavy AoE damage.
A mining droid targets a random player periodically, throwing them up in the air and interrupting whatever ability they are using. Ocassionally, a group of mine droids spawn under Karagga and try to get towards the group. You need to stop them with AoE damage because they explode upon reaching the group, damaging everyone within the explosion radius.
Finally, there is a debuff that gets cast on a random player called Unstable Energy. It is a 10 second debuff that pulls three other players to the one who is affected and deals damage to all four of them. Everyone affected needs to spread out, and the healer needs to cleanse the debuff as quickly as possible.
Drops and rewards from Karagga's Palace in SWTOR
You get standard SWTOR Operations gear drops from bosses in Karagga's Palace. You get green Tionese gear from Story Mode bosses and blue Columni gear from Veteran Mode bosses. You also get Tech Fragments and OP-1 Catalysts from every boss.
You can also get mounts like the Tirsa Elite and Desler Turbo, both of which drop only from Karagga. You can also get the MO-GUL Thrall Droid pet from any of the bosses. In Veteran Mode, Karagga has the chance to drop Karagga's Unyielding Helm, a cosmetic headgear, for a single player in the group.
Karagga's Palace is the easiest option if you are getting started with Operations in SWTOR. It is beginner-friendly and one of the shortest in the game.
