One of the more popular activities in MMOs like Tarisland is Fishing. There are few things more relaxing than sitting by the water and amassing a huge pile of fish. While it’s going to take a bit longer to access this gameplay option, compared to other MMOs, rest assured that it is in the game. It’s just going to take some players a bit of time, diving into the main story before they grab a fishing rod, some tackle, and prepare to hook the big one.
Tarisland has now been released on a global scale, and this classic-style MMO brings familiar character classes, gameplay styles, and adventures - which include Fishing. If you want to know when and where you can get started, look no further. We’re here to help you get something on your line.
How to get a Fishing Rod in Tarisland
Unlike some MMOs, Fishing is locked behind the main story of Tarisland. You need to be at least level 25 - though depending on how much you grind, you could be much higher by the time you get to this point in the game. You need to have reached the point in the story where you’re at the SilverLit Trading Post and have the quest First Fishing.
This quest will send you to find Black Gun the Fisherman in SilverLit. Since this game has autopathing, you can just click the quest, and it will walk you to exactly where this NPC awaits. He’ll give you a Fishing Rod, and some Basic Bait, along with instructions.
This quest will teach you exactly how to fish, and once you’ve completed this very simple quest, you’ll be able to fish anytime you want in Tarisland. It doesn’t matter what class you are, whether a Barbarian Fighter or a Fire Mage, anyone can fish!
How does fishing work in Tarisland?
Fishing is one of the few activities in Tarisland that doesn’t require you to use Vigor. All you need is a fishing rod, some bait, and a body of water. If you’re going to fish, though, make sure to equip your Fishing Rod, first. You put it in the main slot (bottom middle of the screen). From there, head to the body of water you want to fish in.
Nearly any body of water will do, so there’s no real risk of finding a location where you cannot fish. Click the action for your rod, and then set the spot to launch your bait. At that point, you just need to wait until you’ve hooked a fish - look for the green bar at the top of your screen. You want to rapidly mash the Reel action, to catch the fish you’ve hooked!
Occasionally, you might run the risk of catching a shark, though. If you see a red shark icon, you’re in danger. You want to start reeling in so that your line doesn’t connect with the shark. If you do it in time, the shark will leave you alone, and you can resume fishing in peace.
