Temtem, the Pokemon-like creature collecting Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, is slowly reaching the end-line as the developers at Crema Studios have confirmed in previous statements that they currently focusing on new titles like TemTem: Swarm, and they are almost done with the first TemTem game.
Crema had confirmed that patch 1.7 will be the last content-filled update for TemTem and after that, there won't be any new updates. To further solidify the claim, the patch notes of the 1.7 update of TemTem revealed that Crema is removing Novas and slowly turning the game into an offline experience so players can still play it after they pull the plug.
TemTem patch 1.7 wil remove Novas
TemTem started as a Kickstarter project that raised over USD 500,000, which was way more than its initial USD 70K target. During the peak of its run, TemTem was considered a “Pokemon Killer” by fans who were impressed by how the game brought a fresh new wave in the creature-collecting RPG genre.
Now, after four years since its initial release, TemTem has lost a lot of its initial momentum, and games like Palworld have taken the mantle of the new “Pokemon Killer”. Upon seeing the dip in momentum, the developers have made up their minds and decided to make the most rational move and focus on new projects, broaden their horizons, and pull the plug on TemTem.
As the first step towards the discontinuation of the game, Crema will be removing Novas from the game in patch 1.7. Novas are in-game currencies in Temtem that can be acquired using real-world money. By removing this microtransaction from the game, Crema is making a statement that they no longer wish to support the game through this model.
To all the players concerned about the Novas being available in-game, do not fret, you can still make purchases using Novas even after the patch 1.7. But once you spend all your Novas, that’s it, you can’t collect them anymore. All the item prices will be swapped with feathers once all the Novas are spent.
The community is unhappy with this decision. On Steam, there has been a mini-review bombing from players who are negatively rating Crema for discontinuing support for TemTem. However, it seems that this hasn't made much of a change so far, as Crema is still determined to discontinue support for TemTem.
