The Division 2 follows the adventures of a secret organization tasked with restoring order to Washington D.C., which has been devastated by a pandemic. The game offers a competitive experience with challenging missions, activities, and enemies. In addition, it is set on a map with many places to explore. It is even possible to break away from the different factions and play alone.

After several updates, The Division 2 has expanded its content and story. Among the different elements in the game, the Gear Set stands out. If you still can't decide which one to use, here's our tier list on the subject.

The Gear Set in The Division 2 is a special piece of equipment that grants powerful bonuses. On the battlefield, each Gear Set performs a different function and offers many benefits.

Gear Sets can be obtained when you reach level five after conquering the Tidal Basin Stronghold. For the rankings in our list, we have chosen rankings like S, A, B, C, and D. To choose the position of each one, we have taken into account the following things:

  • The damage the artifact can cause.
  • Abilities it contains
  • How it fits into an offensive or defensive tactic
  • What it does for a team to have certain gear sets.

The categories are ranked from best to worst.

The Division 2 S-Tier Gear Sets are the most powerful and versatile ones in the game. They offer great benefits for both solo and team play:

  • Eclipse Protocol
  • Foundry Bulwark
  • Future Initiative

These three Gear Sets were chosen for the extra effects they can inflict on your enemies. Eclipse Protocol is very useful for inflicting damage on your opponents and for spreading the effects to your enemies. Foundry Bulwark is effective at protecting you from external attacks and strengthening your allies, while Future Initiative focuses on healing team members.

A Tier

The Gear Sets in the A tier are useful for different situations and roles, but they don't have the level of excellence of the S-tier ones:

  • Striker
  • Negotiator's Dilemma
  • Tip of the Spear

Striker is based on sustained damage, increasing your rate of fire and damage per successful shot. Meanwhile, Negotiator's Dilemma allows you to tag multiple enemies by shooting them, causing them to take a portion of the damage you deal to others.

Tip of the Spear is designed for rocket launcher users, increasing their damage and frequency of use. In addition, firing the rocket launcher provides a damage bonus to the entire team.

B Tier

The Gear Sets in the B tier have inconvenient limitations on load times or duration of effects that prevent them from being ranked higher. The options here are:

  • True Patriot
  • Hard Wired
  • Ongoing Directive

True Patriot allows you to apply colors to enemies when you shoot them, causing different effects depending on the color, such as reducing their damage, removing their armor, or causing them to explode. Hard Wired, on the other hand, temporarily improves your skills.

Ongoing Directive allows you to collect special ammo when you kill enemies, making your bullets do more damage. When you reload from an empty reserve, you reload all your weapons.

C Tier

Gear Sets in the C tier are mediocre and inefficient for most situations and roles. They are as follows:

  • Aces & Eights
  • System Corruption
  • Hunter's Fury

Aces & Eights is designed for snipers, so its use is very limited. On the other hand, System Corruption allows you to activate an ability that consumes your armor and makes you invisible for a few seconds, but it depends on the timing and skill of the player.

Hunter's Fury focuses on melee combat, increasing your damage and speed when you are close to enemies. It involves too much risk as you have to enter the physical space of your opponents.

D Tier

The D-type Gear Sets are the weakest and most outdated in The Division 2, with little to no benefits:

  • Hotshot
  • Rigger
  • Heartstopper

Hotshot focuses only on headshots and depends on your accuracy. Meanwhile, Rigger allows you to improve your skills, but it always needs something extra to work well. On the other hand, Heartbreaker needs a headshot to activate sometimes. It can help you quickly recharge your skills and increase your armor.
