After you unlock Bunny in The First Descendant, you also gain access to her Exclusive questline that explores her origins, starting with 'Follow Their Traces'. This series of quests requires you to find a series of 'Records' or journal entries hidden in the wilds across various regions. While there's some combat later on in the Bunny questline, finding these Records involves combing the nooks and crannies of the open map till you run into them.

However, if you're eager to know the Record locations, here's how to easily find the objectives in Bunny quests: Follow Their Traces, The Traces Continue, and in Search of The Relic.

While this guide will disclose all the locations of the Records in the Bunny quests, we will keep it as spoiler-free as possible in terms of the actual backstory.

The First Descendant: Complete guide to Bunny Exclusive quest

To start the Bunny Exclusive quest in The First Descendant, you have to first talk to Commander Alpha in Albion when Bunny is selected as your Descendant. If you haven't unlocked Bunny yet, you can pick her up from one of the first side-quests in the game, which takes less than an hour to complete.

Bunny's quest to figure out her parents' past takes you on a rather long journey, spanning all areas of the game. This is not a questline you can complete in one play session if you just started out with The First Descendant, as it involves several high-level areas that unlock as you progress the main questline.

To complete 'Follow Their Traces,' you have to go to the Restricted Zone in The Sterile Lands. On the southern border of the map, get off the metal platform to find a Journal Record on the edge of the cliff. Interact (hold 'E') with it to pick it up.

Play this Record from Journal > Records > Descendant in your Quest Tab (opened through 'J' on default PC keybind). This will advance Bunny's questline to the next stage, 'The Traces Continue'.

The second part of Bunny's personal questline, 'The Traces Continue,' takes you to The Ruins, an area in Vespers. If you haven't unlocked this region yet, you need to advance the main quest further.

Once in The Ruins, head to the gate to The Lumber Yard. To the east of this gate, there is an overgrown Arch structure you can grapple-hook to. The Journal Record stashed on the top of this structure will complete 'The Traces Continue' and progress the questline further into The Echo Swamp with 'In Search of The Relic'.

Thanks to Reddit user Informal-Society-754, we have also found the Journal Record location for 'In Search of The Relic.' To complete this part of the quest, you have to head over to the Derelict Covert in Echo Swamp.

To the north of the Derelict Covert, there are some giant tower structures that you can climb. The Record for the Bunny quest 'In Search of The Relic' is located atop the tallest of these towers. You have to grapple-hook to it from specific angles to find your way up, and the Record is located on the scaffolding right under the ring at the top.

The First Descendant 'Data Chip Fragments' quest: Mechanics explained (Agna Desert)

After getting the Echo Swamp Record, Bunny's questline takes you back to Anais in Albion, who will task you with finding Data Chip Fragments. This is where the combat part of the Bunny questline begins: you must clear the Void Fusion Reactor in Vermillion Waste, Agna Desert.

To get this started, you'll need to destroy Void Fragments vulnerable to Fire Attributes. If your Fire-based Descendants (such as Lepic) is too low-level for this area, you can also do Fire-vulnerable Void Fragments from elsewhere. You might need to do 3-4 runs before you have enough - but if you're on Hard Mode, one run can be enough.

To Activate this Reactor, you need:

  • 3x Organic Void Shard
  • 12x Inorganic Void Shard

Once you do activate the Void Fusion Reactor, get ready for a showdown an Elite Mob. For your efforts, you get a Reconstructed Device you can open Amorphous Materials with, and the questline advances to the next stage.

To beat the 'Security Bypass' quest, you need to progress the main quest till you reach the Shipment Base region of White-night Gulch, and then clear the Vulgus Strategic Outpost there.

  • Vulgus Outposts require you to destroy four devices within the base, while dealing with a barrage of mob spawns.
  • This area will contain lvl 60+ monsters, so be prepared.
  • You must destroy all three devices before the timer runs out, so it is also a DPS check.
  • Disable 3 Survellience towers around the Shipment Base Vulgus Outpost to make the mob spawns less frequent, allowing you to focus on the actual targets.

Head back to Albion and talk to Anais to get the penultimate part of the Bunny questline in The First Descendant, 'Communications Tracking Component'.

The final showdown of the Bunny questline sets you against a mid-game boss, the Pyromaniac. As with all Void Intercept bosses, you can launch this mission from the map or talk to Seneca.

Note that the Bunny questline itself does not unlock access to the Pyromaniac. For this, you have to clear the main questline till you get to 'Karel's Trap'. Furthermore, in order to make progress here, you must do the Pyromaniac boss fight with Bunny as your chosen Descendant.

Pyromaniac is a lvl 66 boss that is weak to Descendant abilities rather than weapons, so weapon-independent nuke/DPS characters generally fare well. Thankfully, Bunny herself fits the bill quite nicely, but you should gear up with some defensive stats.

Here's a Pyromaniac boss guide to help you if you're stuck at the 'Communications Tracking Component' stage. After this is done and dusted, go back to Anais again for one final mission to round up Bunny's questline.

'To Bunny, our Beloved Daughter' begins when you talk to Anais and select 'The Final Coordinates' option. Afterwards, you can 'Move to the Abandoned Magister Lab' by talking to her again, which is the final mission for Bunny's exclusive questline in The First Descendnat.

Compared to the Pyromaniac boss, the Abandoned Magister Lab is not that tough. If you have level-appropriate weapons, you will coast along just fine.

This starts out like any Infiltration Operation, and you face the Shrieking Verves boss at the end. Like most dungeon bosses, this boss has an invulnerability phase where three Orbs spawn on has head and spin around. Shoot these down, and continue damaging the boss until he runs out of invulnerability phases.

This boss also drops a full Crystallization Catalyst upon death - which is one of the three instances in the whole game where you can get this item for free.

After this boss is cleared, head back to Albion for the finale of the Bunny questline:

  • Pride: Talk to Anais in Albion for one last time to receive the final voice record.
  • This record starts playing automatically after. You learn the fate of Cayden and Ember (Bunny's parents), and their final message to Bunny.
  • Goods With No Owner: Talk to Sharen in Albion.
  • Let it All Out: Talk to Gley in Albion.
  • Birthday: Talk to Alpha in Albion for a final cutscene.

For your troubles, you get a Crystallization Catalyst (from earlier), and a birthday present that you can wear as a chest attachment cosmetic afterwards.
