The First Descendant Freyna questline guide: All objectives and how to complete them

With The First Descendant's second Season 1 update, the Freyna personal questline was introduced. Unlike the Bunny questline, Freyna's is relatively straightforward, as there's no journal-scavenging exploration segment. Instead, this questline will take you to different regions to beat regular activities on Normal mode while it narrates Freyna's backstory.

In this guide, we go over all the objectives you need to beat to clear Freyna's questline in The First Descendant.

How to start and complete the Freyna questline in The First Descendant

Talk to Recon Intel Squad member No. 17 at Albion to start the Freyna quest in The First Descendant. Again, you need to equip Freyna for this interaction. Thereafter, a pink quest objective marker will lead you to No. 17, waiting on a quay near the Descendant Instructor.

After the cutscene plays, read the Journal Record "When Even the Trees Despise You". This is accessed from Journal > Records > Descendant > second-to-last row.

Afterward, you'll have to get to the Derelict Covert Outpost in Echo Swamp in Normal Difficulty. Drop down to the clearing below to find the cave with Derelict Covert Void Fusion Reactor and defeat Cloned Neckbet. You do not need any Void Shards for this, as you only have to defeat the boss. Opening the Reconstruction Device is not required.

Then, you must go to Lumber Yard on Vespers (Normal Difficulty mode). Clear the Vulgus Outpost in this area, and then read the Book of Penance from Journal > Records > Descendant.

Your next stop is the Mountaintops Void Reactor Boss in White-Night Gulch (Normal Difficulty mode). Then, do the Vulgus Outpost in the same region, which unlocks the Prayer Journal recording. After Freyna's narration ends, you can optionally read the Incident Log recording as well.

After Dr. Kate reaches out to you, fast-travel to Albion to talk to her in person. You will then be tasked with defeating the Devourer boss in Normal mode with Freyna.

Devourer is strong against Freyna's Toxin abilities, but you can easily circumnavigate that with weapon DPS, as he is only lvl 54. Later, you must take on another Toxin-resistance boss: Swamp Walker (Normal).

Talk to Kate once again to receive the next objective: beat the Block kuiper mining special operation in White-Night Gulch. Interact with the Special Operations Terminal nearby to get started right away. Once you clear wave 2, you can abort and go back to Albion to continue the Freyna questline.

The next destination is Abandoned Zone in Echo Swamps. Here, you'll need to go to the entrance to the Seed Vaults to talk to No. 17. This lets you enter a special instance of the Seed Vault where you can defeat Neurone.

How to defeat Neurone in The First Descendant

Neurone can be found at the very end of Freyna's questline in The First Descendant. He has the usual features of a story boss: some ad spawns, a health-gating mechanic, and a knockdown ability.

Thankfully, Neurone's health-gating mechanic is much simpler than the regular floating-orb affair. All you have to do is hit his face when a glowing halo appears around it during his invulnerable phase. Rinse and repeat until he's down.

What do you get at the end of Freyna's questline in The First Descendant?

At the end of the Freyna questline, you get a Crystallization Catalyst. The entire questline should take you less than two hours with pre-Hard Mode gear, and possibly much less if you skip through the dialogue and cinematics.
