The First Descendant Hailey build: Best modules and loadout

Hailey is the second Chill-based character in the game introduced with The First Descendant Season 1 update. Although she has some thematic overlap with Viessa, she is far more bossing-centric as a class. Hailey has some in-built mobbing capability, but quickly chewing through Void Intercept bosses is where she truly shines.

In this build guide for Hailey, we'll give a brief rundown of her playstyle in The First Descendant, as well as what mod setup and loadout can best utilize it.

Best Hailey module setup for bossing in The First Descendant

To get the best out of her skillset, all you need on a Hailey build is some Skill Power (not Skill Power Modifier), Skill Critical Hit Rate, and Skill Critical Hit Damage. All of these can comfortably fit into a module setup with one Energy Activator and one Crystallization Catalyst invested into your Hailey.

These are the modules used:

• Any Grappling hook mod or sub-attack mod
• Skill Concentration (Triangle Socket): Skill Crit Hit Damage +115.4%
• Front Lines: Skill Crit Hit Damage +64.6%, Skill Crit Hit Rate +27.7%
• Emergency Measures: Skill Crit Hit Rate +64.6%, Skill Crit Hit Damage +27.7%
• Chill Specialist: Chill Skill Power +84.2%
• Glacial Synctium: Critical Hit Resistance +15.10%, Chill Skill Power +10.20%
• Spear and Shield: DEF +89.9%, Skill Power +8.1%

However, if you want to min-max this Hailey build further, you'll have to invest in a much larger quantity of Crystallization Catalysts. To do so, the following mods are worth considering:

• Dangerous Ambush (extra skill power on boss after it's disabled with Storm Snare)
• Increase HP (If you want to tank up)
• MP Conversion (better Zenith uptime)
• Singular Specialist (higher damage output overall)

Being a marksman, Hailey's success will rely a lot on how well you can target her skillshots. If you can point and shoot well, getting her skillset to work is not complicated at all. In a bossing scenario, all you do is activate the buff from your third (Cold Fury), inflict the Cryo debuff on the boss with your first (Cryo Rounds), and shoot. For the actual shot, you can spam your second (Storm Snare) off-cooldown, and use the fourth (Zenith) otherwise.
